Alli's injury.

Spursex

Alert Team
From what I was told by a sports injury specialist yesterday who I was at game with, his experienced view was we'll be lucking if it's only a grade two tear, but he thought (and he's treated/seen thousands) that he the way Alli went down, the way he was moving, it was very bad one and might be a grade three and could be out for months/rest of season.

I hope he's wrong.

He looked upset from the bench. I guess if you know you are knackered you dont need the doctors to tell you. Bad news.

Alot of hamstring injuries in Poch's squad over a pretty short period. Might be about time someone looks into this.

.

The specialists in this area all point to continuous playing on hard surfaces without a prolonged rest from the game increases the chances of these types of soft tissue injuries - the relationship between the number of injuries and our world cup players is now undeniable.

How can idiots taht post on a forum see something and call it in the summer and a professional football club do nothing about it?

It's extremely frustrating and I wish we'd been wrong.

Sadly it was never going to be the case

We are now left with 9 days to get players in or we are looking are a prolonged period of terms with the unwanted/Unfit/unplayables.

We are one of the biggest clubs in the country, how have we got to this stage?

It’s not unlucky

Nope, just don't buy it.

Poch made the final decisions in the summer - and he wanted his first choices or no one - so this time in my view this situation is entirely down to him.

Remember, he 'boasted' that he had to 'educate' Levy in respect of why not buying 'anyone' was better than buying someone who he didn't think was better than we had...

What was our budget?

I can only estimate based on what we've done previously and what I estimated our balance sheet would look like and what our free-flow cash was (which was subsequentyy proved to be spot on) - so ignoring sales, we had around 40-50 mill to spend - and obviously far more than that if we had made any head way in moving three possibly four players on - which of course, we failed to do.

It’s an all round fail then

That’s a sizeable budget, but if it’s not at all flexible we were never going to be able to get Zaha etc.

How much did we ask for the deadwood?

Mopo has to be able to work with a broader range of players if he wants to be a great manager.

This 100%.

Poch takes the blame, his diabolical squad management skills have decimated our players. Short term-ism at it's worst.
  • No signings in the summer.
  • Bloating the squad in unneeded positions (GK, RB)
  • Doesn't withdraw players from further international duty.
  • Stops double training in January.
  • Selects to go all out on 4 cups like we are Manchester City, and then goes on to say that only the PL and CL matter.
  • Doesn't take off Kane/Ali when we are 3-0 up.
  • Brings Kane/Ali on against league 7 players when we are 3-0 up.
  • Doesn't rotate the squad until injuries force him.
It is starting to feel as though the players have carried us to where we are despite our manager.

That Tranmere selection was just odd.

Goes back to my point about him not believing the youth team he talks about are anywhere near ready.

We are fucked, he knows it and he knows it’s his fault.

We can’t have a single injury to a front player till Son is back

We are relying on:

Llorente - hardly plays and 32 so a higher chance to pick up and injury

Lamela - injury prone - has to have minutes managed

Moura - just back from injury

To cover till Son is back.

And I still wouldn’t rule out us selling Llorente

What a shambles.

Zaha's people said yes (I am told) it was ready to get over the line and then at the last moment, it was a no from them that killed it stone dead - a short while later, he's on a brand new bumper deal...

The window caught alot of clubs out - transfer inflation last summer was 100% higher than predicted.

I'm not certain what I would have done, as in the end, mad money was being asked for some pretty mediocre players.

Torreira was signed for 26m
Maddison 22m
Brooks 10m
Shaqiri 13m
Rondon 13m
Deulofeu 12m
Mouthino 5m

Some steals there.

Those are just off the top of my head.

But we are also competing with the players' representative saying 'Go to Leicester and you'll get more game time' and clubs like Liverpool offering much higher wages for players who are bench warmers from the off.

The biggest disappointment for me was Maddison though. There arent going to be many home-grown players that I think could step in and cover Eriksen. But what can you do if the player knows he will get more PL game-time at a club like Leicester? Young players and their teams have their careers mapped out from a very early stage. It was a good move for Maddison to go to Leicester because in a couple of years time Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal will pay big money to get him.
