Alli believes we're inches away from winning PL..

He said in the latest edition of GQ: "I think we’re inches away from winning the Premier League. Maybe another player or two players is all we need."

Alli has been a revelation since his £5million switch from MK Dons, a creative force driving Tottenham forward and scoring plenty of goals, too.

He has bagged 32 goals in 96 appearances for the club and is now one of the most highly-rated players in Europe.

He added: "I think a lot of my goals come from anticipating play.

"It's about just constantly thinking and trying to predict what’s going to happen. When you’re in the box, it’s all quick-quick-quick.

"So you've got to sort of guess what's going to happen next. Where the ball might fall, so you can get that extra yard on the defender."

The September issue of GQ is on sale on Thursday.

IMO, what is he is really saying, and agreeing with the fans, is that we are a couple of good signings away from making a challenge. Hope the management take note of at least the players' comments and help fulfil their ambitions. If it turns out (due to lack of suitable additions) instead of inches away, we end up being even further away, heads will turn and the project could easily derail. Watch us Rise?....hope they follow the inspiration set out in that slogan. COYS!

You know I don't seriously think there is a single individual attached to the club that recognise that the depth of our squad isn't an issue.

Levy is said by Poch to be keen to add players; Poch believes they have to be players of the right potential quality - as he himself admits, we don't always get this right - our record transfer signing of last season has proved nearly all the crowing laughing barcode supporters I know dead right, except we didn't even get the 1:10 great game out of him that they said we would.

We've turned our scouting set-up and our acquisition team upside down - let's hope that it makes the difference and the three possibly four deals we are targeting, we can both afford and get over the line.

We need 3 to (rather) 5 appropriate (cheap (detected through efficient scouting) or expensive) players who will fill up effectively certain needs and shortcomings of the squad in order to compete for the EPL and under the condition other clubs won't strengthen significantly and very effectively their squads.

That we have missed two chances to win unexpectedly the EPL because our owners have refused to strengthen effectively and in the right time our squad with just a couple of needed players, it's a fact and a part already of Spurs history.

And can you evidence this 'refusal' from any other source other than your febrile imagination.

Do you simply like talking utter bullshite or is it a learned skill?

This is the actual evidence to the contrary - in the public domain:

“We are not a club today that can compete with Manchester United and City for a player,” Pochettino added.

“We cannot fight. We are in a different way. But the thing is Daniel is very keen to sign like me. These type of players we are talking about they are not easy to find.

“In three years, my experience with Daniel [is that he] has always been trying to find a player to improve us. Daniel is very keen for signings every season.”

Phil Thompson reckons we are weak in the 3 behind Kane positions if one gets injured ? With Lamela out for an undetermined time he could be right.

But I think Winks is going to contribute significantly this season and could be moved forward slightly if need be. His strength is underestimated and his passing intelligent and accurate.

Assuming we get Barklay and with Winks return to full match fitness (which may take a little while), and with Dembele's ankle injury responding well to the op, I think we'd be well covered in that three behind Kane, most especially if Nkoudou and Onomah (tougher admittedly) can establish themselves.

I love Winks and genuinely think he could go on to be the best player we've produced above and beyond Kane in our modern PL history.

A bold statement Ex but at an equivalent age he may be in front of Kane who was I think struggling with loans at that stage.

I know he's (literally) not in the same league - metaphorically speaking as well, but when Poch calls him his little Inniesta - I can only agree - if he carries on the way he's started and continues to improve, holding onto him is going to be very very difficult - in just one season he's got on the radar of just about every top scouts in Europe.

I actually think he'd be better suited to Spanish football as well, but as always, time will tell.

Would be interesting to see Winks further up. Personally think he would be wasted in that position, but he has ability so wouldn't be surprised if he could adapt.

I like Winks and did so when I saw him in the Academy side. His promotion to the 1st team squad was merited and he took to it like a duck to water - rather different to Onomah for example. He looks like he has 'it' and I will be disappointed if he doesn't develop into a very, very good player - full International level at least.

As for Alli he is undoubtably right about the need for 2 or 3 players, but not sure if he is thinking for 1st eleven or not?

But how close we come to the title this year mainly depends on how close City and United get to what had been their 'normal' level (Chelsea seem there but we need to see how they cope with the loss of Costa).

We haven't taken advantage of two seasons of supreme opportunity caused because they have floundered and Chelsea downed tools for one of those seasons.

Ex, the evidence is that Levy and Co didn't strengthen the squad in time and in an effective way when that was obviously needed (especially in some January windows when that would have boosted the chances to achieve a trophy).
This is a fact.
Isn't it?

(According to Cambridge Dictionary of the English language, fact is something that is known to have happened or to exist, especially something for which proof exists)

Rose and Son back soon, Lamela October. Things are looking up. That significantly improved our bench at least.

The squad is weak even with them returning. Things are not looking up until we bloody sign some players.

Depends who we sign. If they are young hopefuls it won't make much difference to our best 11. As has been said it will cost a packet to improve on what we have.

I doubt Lamela will be 100% effective till the new year, he has been out a long time.

Our acquisition strategy isn't changing; we buy players we believe can improve and haven't reach their peak ability/value. Sissoko in some respects was a deviation from that established norm in as much as he was viewed as an instant impact player, but in a better team, would be better.

N'koudou and Jansen may well be like new acquisitions that make an impact this season and so we will probably look to build with younger unfinished/unpolished players again - as I see Barklay still is.

All of the there I've mentioned could push for starting places, whether they will or not will be proved one way or another as the season gets underway, but what is clear if Poch does like the look of them or they aren't progressing the way he thinks they should, then they're moved on pretty quickly.
