All Time Strikers

The Fear

A Wise Man (once sat next to him)
So this is where I've got to with this list of ten...

100 or more appearances, or won something (or promotion)

Striker:

Brian Little
Peter Withe
Gary Shaw
Pongo Waring
Peter McParland (league cup, fa cup)
Andy Gray (league cup winner)
Dwight Yorke (league cup winner)
Dean Saunders (league cup winner)
Dalian Atkinson (league cup winner)
Billy Walker https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Walker_(English_footballer)

Or:

John Deehan (league cup winner)

with someone else replaced?

I'd be happy to leave one of the others out, but who?!

Not making the list?

George Ramsey
Archie Hunter
Harry Hampton
Juan Pablo Angel (nice guy, but 1 in 4 goals, not all time is he?)
John Carew
Dion Dublin
Alan McInally
Andy Lochhead
Christian Benteke
Gerry Hitchens
Gabby Agbonlahor (long serving but 1 in 4.5 goal ratio and a lot of history)
Johnny Dixon
Tony Hateley
Garry Thompson
Keith Leonard

I'd vote Billy Walker. I dont think we have been blessed with great strikers, they've either been good but disloyal like Yorke and Benteke, or average but loyal like Gabby and Dublin. Going on reports he was world class and loyal.

Just thinking the others did win things though?

I don't know never saw him play but I'm thinking all-time greats, I'd have Gabby in there before Saunders and Atkinson and I grew to despise Gabby but I'd think he'd be on a wall of fame. Before those two
Really difficult to pick just 11 and I go back further than you but not as far as some on here.

I guess it's an age thing

Walker & Little. Unlucky to Peter Withe, and Peter Mac on the wing as mentioned in the winger thread.

I'm not asking for your two preferences, just trying to get a list of up to ten to send to the club!!!

Of the 10, I think Deano or Dalian are probably the 'weakest' for inclusion - Hitchens delivered more for the club and more consistently (going on the record books - never saw him play).

If Hitchens and Gabby (and I can't bear the man these days, frankly) replaced those two, I wouldn't be overly upset.

Bit harsh on Yorke as he was with us for a decade or so before leaving.

Most of the true great strikers who have played for us I've not seen play bar clips on YouTube unfortunately so I can't really comment on most. I would say that any overall greatest team would have to include Billy Walker purely based on tge fact he's our record scorer.

Yorke was twice the player Dion was, possibly the best striker I've seen down there.

I know he was a great player, but I don't hold him in much regard now. Kissing the Utd badge in front of the Holte End, what a twat.

I used to have his name and number on my back, he was my favourite player, tore it off when he moved to the other side and claimed they were the bigger club.

To call him a Villa legend or anything of the sort is laughable in my opinion.
