Vic Crowe was a winger I believe, but should he be in contention for the all time list ?

Only thing I dread is Dennis Mortimer not being on the final list. I think it would be a slur on him, for what he led Aston Villa to, as captain. And be a bit embarrassing on the club/us fans.

When did Dwight Gayle play for Villa?

How did I get Gayle from Yorke?

Good spot 58!

Anyone correct positions on opening short list as well, I had to lean on Wiki for the older players and I thought Crowe was attacking but whatever they had his position tagged as it translated in my (youthful!) head as possible fullback/wingback?

Vic was a wing-half, wing-halves played in the days of the WM formation.
Lining up as below.

-------------Goalkeeper
Rightback Centrehalf Leftback

Right Wing Half Left Wing Half

------Inside Right--- Inside Left
Right Wing Centreforward Left Wing

It was basically a five defenders, five attackers formation.

I don't think you could list Sir Brian of Little as a winger. He played in the era of 4-4-2 and was one of two strikers.
Also Peter McParland was basically a winger, although he was good enough to play any of the 5 forward positions in the WM formation used for the most of his career.

See @The Fear I'm not the only one PMSL

Just how bad IS Newcastle's injury crisis, Steve? Boss Bruce hilariously reveals he'll have Dwight YORKE, aged 48, available in February

Didn't Joe Kinnier forget what Johan Cabaye and N'zogbias names were whilst be was there? Must be something in the water up there that's making them forgetful. To be fair I wish I could forget who n"zogbia was as well.
