All The League One Transfers: Summer 2019

Number seven:

Bolton:
In:
Defender: Josh Emmanuel, 22 (Ipswich Town)

Ipswich:
Out:
Defender:
Josh Emmanuel, 22 (Bolton Wanderers)

Signing number nine coming up...

Bolton:
In:

AFC Wimbledon:
In:
Midfielder: Max Sanders, 20 (Brighton & Hove Albion - season loan)

Peterborough:
Out:
Midfielder: Mark O'Hara, 23 (Motherwell - season loan)

Odds on him ending up at Bolton also????
What would be the situation if Bolton have made payments to clubs to cancel contracts of these player(s)?

Or if the player(s) made a payment to their clubs to cancel contracts and Bolton then covered this with sign on payments?

Here are the final scores on the doors after the summer window. The numbers given for transfers out do not include loans, although those given for transfers in do. It is also difficult to be unequivocal about squad sizes, as some clubs include development players and others do not. This is a best attempt at calculating some final numbers.

Thank you Scotimp for providing this data, it makes very interesting reading.
Lincoln still has one of the smallest squad sizes, surprisingly the same as Sunderland and Rotherham. Lincoln also having the lowest number of leavers, provides the level of continuity for the new season, which is currently panning out.

Thank you once again for your time on this.

Our 25 includes 2 out on loan and Coker, who has only ever been seen at Harry Anderson’s house... would be interesting to know the effective squad size of the other clubs.

And although only 3 'outs' we lost 6(?) loan players.
It cancels out, because the vast majority of clubs take a similar number of loans. For that reason, it isn't worth counting them.

Accrington is a minor anomaly - they take a larger number of loanees each season than most, which inflates the number of players coming in and reduces the number out.

I don't have the precise numbers, but the majority of clubs have two or more out on loan by now.

The most important aspect for comparative purposes is the squad sizes, which are as accurate as I can make them.

taking our next two opponents as an example.
doncaster, with a squad of 33, can *afford* to have three keepers and 2 players out on loan. effective squad size 31. plus they have played three games fewer than us so far. and have had ten days off.

wycombe, with a squad of 24, understandably have no-one out on loan. effective squad size 24. no midweek leasing.com game.

for us, squad of 25... but 2 are loaned out. effective squad size 23.
(also not helped by two currently on international duty, 3 long term injured)
18 available for tonight's game. 18 available for saturday's game.

i see three games are off this weekend due to international call ups. we need one more international ;)
