Aleks Kolarov 2016-17

[Johnny Baguette]

Started like a train this season and when the going got tough has caved in almightily.

Ok, Yaya's decision to whack a free that should imho have gone forward was not the brightest thing to do but Kolarov's inability to nail it typified his malaise.

I found out today that last time we paid out for a full was Maicon under Mancini when the club decided to rest on it's laurels post title a few years ago to Mancini's public frustration.

Gives an indicator as to where Pelle and Pep's priorities have been.

All our senior fulls are past their best and we've loaned out fulls who were looking ready to blood.

Kolarov and Clichy are brutal right now and any rival coach has got to be targeting that left hand side.

He may not have been expecting to receive the ball from Yaya at that free kick but his lack of concentration and consequent lack of control conceded possession and left us horribly exposed to their counter attack. Can't blame him much from being unable to stop Wijnaldum scoring - the guy had a run on him and no one was tracking the guy - but I was seriously hacked off at his casual, lackadaisical shank of the ball which gave it away :017:

Overall after a seeming redemption he has gone backwards and is now a serious liability. I would rather have Angelino at LB and was bemused by the decision to loan out him and Maffeo. Just too bizarre for words.
