Latest news today is that he’s gone.
Goodbye Mr Nice Guy, Alan Sheehan, thanks for the memories and all your hard work, but the run of bad results was unsustainable. The fans and now the Board have finally had enough after that one-sided home drubbing against Ipswich.

For the Swans it’s time to move on and seek his replacement.

Six managers in seven years since PL relegation (not including temporary and interim):

Graham Potter: 11 June 2018 to 20 May 2019 (41% win rate)

Steve Cooper: 13 June 2019 to 21 July 2021 (44% win rate)

Russell Martin: 01 Aug 2021 to 20 June 2023 (36% win rate)

Michael Duff: 22 June 2023 to 04 Dec 2023 (28% win rate)

Luke Williams: 05 Jan 2024 to 17 Feb 202532 (32% win rate)

Alan Sheehan: 30 April 2025 to 11 Nov 2025 (26% win rate)

Could we possibly find a good one this time, we live in hope.
Most successful was Steve Cooper, with a play-off semi and a play-off final to his credit. He moved on from us to manage bottom of the table Nottingham Forest who had four points from eight games. He turned them around and got promotion later that season. They are still up there three seasons later.

Here’s a few to start off with:

Michael Carrick

Liam Manning

Kim Hellburg

Brendan Rodgers

Gary O’Neil

Steven Gerrard

Tony Mowbray

Very important we get this next appointment right. Don’t know much about Hellberg but if we play the way people describe his football, I’d be very happy with that.

Do we think it’ll be Hellberg or is there scope for someone with Championship experience?

Kim Hellberg is looking like the favourite, but he may need time to make it work and has no experience of Championship football.
An immediate impact is needed otherwise we could get dragged into a relegation fight.

The consensus among Hammarby fans seems to be that his ideas and concepts took a while to bear fruit so we'll see. For me, it's important for fans to see a clear vision, identity and exciting philosophy on the pitch that grows as the season goes along whilst also bringing results over time. I think we're fairly a patient bunch if we start to see those signs. I also think someone with charisma and a bit of character is important. Found a training session from Hammarby's YouTube channel, if you skip to 2 minutes - he seems a character

I know there are concerns about Hellberg and how long it would take to click but I think our players seem to suit the way that he’s been said to play. Dominating play through the midfield, Galbraith and Stamenic are both good at this from what I’ve seen. It’ll also help that he knows Inoussa from having managed against him.

Supposedly his teams also work very hard off the ball too which the current group are accustomed to.

Feel like it may take a little while to fully see it work but not 6 months as some Hammarby fans have been saying online.

He will probably want to bring in his own coaching staff. My one concern would be that goalkeeper coach Martin Margetson is kept on.

I wonder if we’ll get someone in before the Bristol game. Just about 6 days. I’m hoping for an announcement on Monday if Hellberg is to be the choice. Would be good for him to get close to a full week of training in.

I’m wondering too.

I’m wondering why the meeting with Swansea hierarchy was held in London.

Suddenly Hellburg appears on Norwich’s manager search betting odds.

Jon Dahl Tomasson 1/4, Kim Hellberg 8/1, Gary O’Neil 8/1

He has also been offered an improved contract at Hammarby.

How long do we ‘wait and see’ for a decision before moving on?

So it was Middlesbrough not Norwich.
Hellburg has played us like a fiddle.
Sneaky Middlesbrough come in and snatch Hellburg from under our noses last minute according to the latest media reports.
He decides to go for more money, better resources and a better chance of promotion.

Kim Hellberg joins the list. Chris Davies, John Eustace, we should be used to it by now.
Are we not an attractive club anymore, or really have we ever been?

The further away we get from the PL years, the less attractive we’ll be in my opinion.

The owners want to be ambitious which is great, but while we’re 18th and can’t offer the same money as a Middlesbrough, we won’t be able to compete for the same managers as them.

We have to focus on getting this project up and running so peoples perspectives of the club change. It’s the only way we’ll be able to level up our prospects.

Who do we think would be a realistic option? I’m not really sure but Matos has been mentioned by the BBC.

Vitor Matos one of the key targets now.
I like it as a kind of wildcard appointment, a lot of articles on him are glowing. My only concern is that it’s basically replacing an inexperienced manager with someone who has even less.

Don’t get me wrong, we appointed Roberto Martinez. These types of thing can and do come off but it feels like a risk we don’t need to take.

Having said that, if the owners have seen enough there to give him a go, then he gets my full support.

Seems a crazy appointment given circumstances but this bloke has worked under one of the best managers in world football there’s a huge up roar about the fact he’s only managed 12 games but I can garuntee there wouldn’t of been if we hired him straight from Liverpool

@VitalSwansea Do you think they’ll appoint Matos? Looks like they might if advanced talks are true.

I like the sound of his style but I really don’t think a manager this inexperienced is what’s needed after Sheehan. I just don’t understand the thinking here. I’ve been more positive about the Matos appointment but it’s dawning on me just how risky this is, and for seemingly no reason.

Surely someone like Thorup would be near the top of the list?

Don’t want to be negative and will definitely back Vitor Matos if it is him. It’s such a risk though.
