Adam Johnson

Footballer Adam Johnson has admitted one count of sexual activity with a child and one count of grooming at Bradford Crown Court.

However, he continues to deny two charges of sexual activity with the girl.

That's the end of his playing days and a term in prison looms.

A Crown Court judge has the power to sentence a person guilty of ‘sexual activity with a child’ to a maximum of 14 years in prison.
It appears the 28-year-olds playing days might be over.

Is there a minimum jail sentence that he's facing? I think it's safe to say he's finished.

The Judge doesn't have to send anyone to prison, however they do have sentencing guide lines and the defence and prosecution can and do appeal sentences, if there considered to be excessive or too lenient.

Public figures like Johnson are usually made examples of, yes.
 
How awful and tragic at the same time. That lad had the tools to develop into a great footballer. He obviously didn't work hard enough and Mancini got rid much to the winger's public bitterness.
 
Cannot understand why he did it. He's a very rich, good-looking Premiership footballer and could have his pick of any young lady and yet he targets an under-age. Beyond my comprehension.

 
Like I said on the front page comments section - I loved to watch Adam when he was at City, its just a pity his worlds fallen apart. Having said that his victims must have and still must be living a nightmare. My heart goes out to them.

I don't think that makes any difference , but without knowing the circumstances it is difficult to make an informed decision
 
Next thing he will sign will be the Sex Offenders Register.

Wasted his talent for sure, no idea what other damage he may have done to other lives
