With the Championship kick-off only a week away now, Aston Villa wrapped up their pre-season preparations with a 2-1 victory over Dynamo Dresden on Saturday.

Amazing that this poor bloke is being vilified for this error. Yes, it was a bad mistake, but his overall body of work in pre-season and his few outings previously hardly merit the hammering he is getting for a mistake that was a result of a momentary lapse of judgment on his behalf and a lack of cover/protection by Chester. Comparisons to Enckleman (who was potentially a good keeper until that moment at Small Heath) are plainly counterproductive and infantile. What he needs is a confidence boost, not people on social media giving him abuse. Thankfully, I think Bruce and Walsh will tell him to shake it off and learn from it. I hope he has the mental strength to recover and realize his potential. Time will tell...
