A-Z TV and Radio Comedy Shows

U - Up The Garden Path. Imelda Staunton. Ran for a few seasons on radio and TV. Never watched or listened to it.

Only Quatermass that I saw was a sci-fi alien invaders film - quite scary in it's day.

Alternative Q... Q (number) - the Spike Milligan tvc omedy sketch series

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V - (The) Very World of Milton Jones - BBC Radio 4 comedy. Went to a live recording of one of the shows. Quite enjoyable.

... or... (The) Vicar of Dibley - BBC tv comedy, with Dawn French in the title role

Both versions of the "Likely lads" were good. There were some plans to make a new series of "Whatever happened to whatever happened to..." , but James Bolam didn't want to do it (probably too busy with other stuff at the time).

X "X marks the spot" - the Radio 4 treasure-hunt type game is listed under "comedy" on their website. Never heard it though, so can't vouch for the humour content.

So it is, Mike. Never heard of it. Doesn't sound very funny but it's certainly listed as Comedy.

Z Zapped - Tv comedy in which office worker Brian Weaver (played by James Buckley) is accidentally transported to a medieval paralleul universe. Not seen it , but some episodes are on BBC iPlayer.

or... Zokko - BBC Childrens tv show (1968-70), which featured comedy, animations, music, magic tricks, etc. "Mr. Zokko" was a sort of robot-pinball-machine who introduced the items on the show. It was more of a "magazine" format which featured comedy items in it, rather than a full-on comedy show. It had a so-cheap-and-naff-that-it-was-good aspect to it, which even young children could appreciate. At the end of the programme , the robot would say "Zokko ... game over!"

Well done, Mike. I had never heard of either show. Zokko sounds decidedly odd.

Yes, Zokko was a bit odd. It was made at at a time when robot characters started appearing in several children's tv shows. The programme makers probably thought something along the lines of "If we put a few cheap odds-and-ends together, introduced by a robot, kids will like it". There was also an interactive aspect to it where children were encouaged to send in their own "Knock, knock" jokes, etc.
