C Wonderful COPENHAGEN - sung by Danny Kaye in the Hans Christian Andersen film from 1952. Had ten weeks in the UK charts the following year.

or, maintaining the Irish connection, a favourite track of mine, Carrickfergus. Irish folk song recorded by many artists including The Chieftains, The Dubliners, Van Morrison, Joan Baez and Bryan Ferry.
 
... or DURHAM Town (The Leavin') by Roger Whittaker (1969). The single reached number 19 in the UK charts . Durham is actually a city, and it's the River Wear that flows through it! He was from Kenya, so may not have been familar with the Durham/Northumberland area.

I lived and worked in Durham City for about 11 months - very enjoyable.

'Nightime would find me in Rosa's cantina,' Great stuff. I had wrongly thought it was an older song but it dates to MR in 1959.
 
K - The Joyful Kilmarnock Blues. Song by The Proclaimers from the 1987 LP, This is the Story.
Football fans will feel the line '60 miles to Kilmarnock to see Hibernian play.'

L Last train to CLARKSVILLE - by US pop group The Monkees, who also had their own tv series. It reached number 23 in the UK singles charts in 1967. Clarksville, Tennessee, had a military base (Fort Campbell) which was used as a departure point for soldiers who were heading to Vietnam. The song is obviously influenced by the Beatles, and is still often played on the radio, on jukeboxes, etc. (y)

N NEW YORK, NEW YORK (Theme tune from "New York, New York" film). Originally sung by Liza Minelli at the end of the 1977 film. The song was witten by John Kander and Fred Ebb. Frank Sinatra recorded a more widely known version two years later, which reached number 59 in the UK singles chart in 1980/81. The track is usually played at the NYS, before and after Millers matches. (y)

P PROVIDENCE - track by King Crimson, which features on their album "Red" (1974). Providence is the capital city of the US state, Rhode Island. The song is based on an improvised composition, first performed live by the band in that location. Clip on YouTube.

... or "PASADENA" a hit single by whimsical art-school 1920's jazz revival group , The Temperance Seven. Reached number 4 in the UK singles chart in 1961. (Earlier a hit for US singer Al Jolson). Pasadena is a city which is situated in California, USA. Clip on You Tube.
