A-Z Of The USA

U - Utah - good ski-ing in the winter. A large percentage of the population belong to the Mormon church.

We were once on holiday with some Americans and firstly they were amazed that we'd not been invited to 'William and Kate's Wedding' - English so obviously 'must' have gone! And then they wanted to know which castle we lived near! So, we said 'Boston Castle' is at the other side of town to us. And we told them the story about the Tea Party and the connection. But all they were interested in was that we lived 'near a castle'!!!

I dread to think what American kids are taught about history at school - probably shown Walt Disney films like "Robin of Sherwood" where Sherwood Forest has giant Redwoods, racoons and big waterfalls .:balloon:

W - Washington - the capital city.
The NFL team previously known as Washington Redskins are looking for a new name to replace (the now considered offensive) Redskins.

Shaking my head. Did you also see that they are thinking of painting the post boxes black?

Think it goes back to the Yankees (nickname for the Northern states, particularly the New England area) in the American Civil War.

Could have also had Yellowstone National Park. That's what "Jellystone Park", home of Yogi ,Boo Boo and Mr Ranger, is based on.:p

Z ZIP codes- Postal codes, originally five digits, introduced in the USA in 1963. Here in Britain, we were slightly behind them!
Modern US ZIP codes have a hyphen and extra digits after the first five
