A-Z Of Sporting Songs/Chants

Well, I've investigated (asked Gordon) and he says it's the potholes that gave their name to the buttertub pass.

Quote 'It is said that the name of the potholes came from the times when farmers would rest there on their way to market. During hot weather they would lower the butter they had produced into the potholes to keep it cool'

So, now we know!

The other half says the Buttertubs Pass is mentioned in 'The Gypsy' a folk song, though I've just listened to it and don't recommend it! (and couldn't make the words out!)

Interesting (Buttertubs).

Didnt go there in the end, we instead had a drive to Ribblehead Viaduct.
Not been there before, it was really nice - although the paths were a bit narrow for my liking - social distancing.
We'd only been there a matter of minutes when a train went over the viaduct - must be a really good view from on the train!

Do you know they are selling four empty clover cartons for £5.99 plus postage on EBay! I throw mine away!
