A-Z Of Songs/Films/Sayings With Food In The Title

Been to "Strawberry Fields" - it's behind where John Lennon lived when a youngster (and also been to Penny Lane, which is not far from there). I like strawberries. My grandmother had a small strawberry patch in her back garden in Eastwood.

Alternative "S"- "SEMOLINA" minor UK hit single for comedy entertainer Freddy "Parrot Face" Davis in 1967.

Alternative "T" : TARAMASALATA - Greek island holiday romance song by Paul French (Clip on YouTube). I quite like Greek-style cuisine.

------------------------------------------------
U - "Underneath the spreading CHESTNUT tree" - song most famously recorded by Ivor Kirchin and his band. The song is based on "The Village Blacksmith" poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The song was a favourite of the character Pike ("Stupid Boy"), in the BBC comedy series "Dad's Army". I like sweet chestnuts, and there is a chestnut tree opposite where I live. It does spread out quite a lot!

I was going to put My Green Tangerine but when I checked found that my memory was at fault and it's actually My Green Tambourine.

Went a few years ago to Strawberry Fields in Liverpool and also been to the one in New York which is a living memorial to John Lennon in Central Park.

A friend's grandad grew strawberries - not sure if he ever realised why he didn't seem to have many after we'd been round!

W -"WATERMELON Man" . Laid-back jazz hit for Herbie Hancock (1962). Clip on YouTube.
Hmmm...nice! ;)

"HOT X BUNS" - traditional children's song/rhyme.
Variants of the rhyme/street vendor's slogan have been around since the 1700's. Nice snacks.

or... much better... "XMAS CAKE" by US rock band, Rilo Kiley, from 2003. (Clip on YouTube). Real tearjerker , with modern-day references. Makes "Lonely this Christmas" sound like a barrel of laughs! May have been influenced by Leonard Cohen's "gloom from a room" material (?). Quite like it though - the song (and Xmas cake itself).

Z - "(That) ZUCCHINI song" - Country and Western track by Marilyn Waliker (2023). Describes "too much stuff" garden produce problems. I find that pumpkins can create similar issues. (Clip on YouTube).

...or... "ORANGE ZEST" [Remake] (ONR Dub) by Thamza & Mr Rantsho- electronic instrumental from 2017. (Clip on YouTube).

Well that's another one finished - and, eventually, we got something for every letter!

Well Done All and thanks to everyone for joining in!
