D - The Darjeeling Limited. 2007 comedy drama film about three estranged brothers who take a bonding trip aboard a luxury train in India after their father's death. Stars Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman and several stars in cameo roles including Bill Murray.
 
G GOING up the country - released as a single by US blues-rock band Canned Heat. Reached number 19 in the UK singles chart (1969). Also features on the Woodstock festival film soundtrack (1969). Believed by some to have an anti-Vietnam War draft message.

H - Happy Holiday. 1941 song by Irving Berlin and sung by Bing Crosby and Marjorie Reynolds in the 1942 film, Holiday Inn. Recorded by several other artists including Andy Williams and Peggy Lee. Various videos on YouTube.
 
K KNOCK At The Cabin - psychological/horror film about a family holidaying in a cottage when someone (guess!) knocks at the door and says the family are wanted to save the world. Ron from Harry Potter was in it.
 
N (it's ) NICE to go trav'lin - well-known song by Frank Sinatra, which is still often played on tv/radio. Appears on the "Come fly with me" album (1958). [Just realised that I missed a sitter for "C"!] . My dad was a Sinatra fan and owned a vinyl copy. The song was released as a single and reached number 48 in the UK charts (1960).

... or... NATIONAL Lampoon's Vacation - US comedy film (1983). Directed by Harold Ramis and starring Chevy Chase. Has been shown on UK tv.

Q - Quiet Weekend. 1946 British comedy film about misadventures of a family trying to relax on a weekend holiday in the country. Starring Derek Farr, Barbara White and Marjorie Fielding. Based on Anthony Asquith's long running West End play of the same name.
 
R RETURN to Frog City - song by British country/folk rock band Matthews Southern Comfort. (1971). Features on the album "Frog City", which was about a fictional safe haven where the anxieties and complexities of everyday life could be escaped. Whole album on YouTube.
 
S Summer HOLIDAY - Cliff Richard film from 1963. Remember going with my sister and her friend and queuing up Ship Hill. When some came out you got to go in consequently we were let in half-way through and stayed until we got to that point in the film again! Only time I remember that ever happening!
