... or "Orange Blossom Special" - written by Ervin T. Rouse in 1938. Has been covered by many performers and bands e.g. Johnny Cash, Flying Burrito Brothers, etc. I have seen Fairport Convention play it live several times. (y)

R - "(The) RETURN of the GIANT HOGWEED" by Genesis, which features on their "Nursery cryme" album (1971). Like Queen Anne's lace (see previous post). the plant is a member of the carrot family, and has the official name of Heracleum mantegazzianum, which is mentioned in the song.
Saw them play it live at Sheffield City Hall, when I was still a school student.

X "XERANTHEMUM" by Peacetime Guitar, from the "Flower Peace Vol. 10" album (2022). Clip on YouTube. Xeranthanum annuus is native to Southern Europe, and has silvery foilage, with star-shaped pink/purple/white flowers. There are also other xeranthemum varieties.

Z ZINNIAS - song by US indie/pop singer-songwriter Clairo (2021). Real name Claire Cottrill. Clip on YouTube. Zinnias are colourful annuals, which belong to the Asteracea family, and originate from South America.
