A-Z of Fictional Places.

Alternative "M" - ""Much-Binding-in-the-Marsh 1940's/50's BBC Radio comedy, featuring Richard Murdoch and Kennth Horne. Action centred on the antics of staff at an obscure RAF airfield, loosely based on the one at Moreton-in- the-Marsh, Glocs. Slightly before my time, but I have heard some recorded episodes. Apparently "binding" was RAF slang for "grumbling". It was a bit like "The Navy Lark".
-------------------------------------------------------------

P PORTWENNN - ficticious Cornish village which features in the ITV comedy-drama "Doc Martin". First broadcast in 2004. Martin Clunes plays the title character, Dr. Martin Ellingham.

Used to go through Moreton-in-the-Marsh on the train to Evesham. The theme song always came back to me though like you I was a bit young to remember the programme. My father always spoke of it with affection.

Alternative "Q" - Quazatron- computer game and underground city location, on the planet Quartec. Designed to be played on the ZX Spectrum (1986). You controlled robot KLP-2 (Klepto) to destroy enemy robots and scavenge their spare parts to help you on your mission. Quite strategic. Good fun!
