A-Z Of Cooking

R - Ratatouille. Dish of stewed vegetables such as aubergines, courgettes and peppers. I prefer mushy peas but my wife likes it.

T - Tomato. We use this every day in a variety of forms including fresh, ketchup, passata, puree, tinned, sardines or mackerel in tomato sauce ( I eat on toast) and Aldi taco mixed beans which come in a tomato sauce. I also make my own tomato juice for a third of the price of bought stuff by whizzing a tin of chopped tomatoes and equal amount of passata with added chilli flakes for a kick.

V - Vinegar. Comes in a variety of forms widly used in the kitchen. Growing up we only used Sarsons malt vinegar but I now use mainly wine vinegars and balsamic.

W WOK - had one years ago that went rusty and had to be thrown away. After that used a big frying pan - until this summer when I invested in a non-stick wok from Asda. Use it a lot and it's good.

Same story. Old one went rusty. Now have a non-stick which was a special buy from Aldi. Good so far.

Y YOGURT Maker - something else I've never had (nor really wanted!). In fact, I don't think I know anybody who has had one.
