This can be anything from food, dishes, cooking equipment, where you cook etc

A AIR FRYER - the latest thing in the kitchen. Have toyed with the idea of getting one but not took the plunge yet

B - Bangers and mash. A staple of my youth. Should be served with onion gravy but we had it with baked beans. It is suggested the name derives from sausages during WW1 rationing that had such a high water content they could explode during cooking!

D - Dry-Frying. A wok based cooking method. I have tried it unsuccessfully. It requires the oil to get very hot but as soon as it starts spitting and flaming I panic and turn the gas down.

G - Glaze. Coating brushed onto food before or during cooking. Usually thicker consistency than simple basting used to keep meat tender and moist

I - Italian Dressing. Not Italian but an American vinaigrette-style dressing using oil, vinegar and various herbs or spices.

M MIXING Bowl - when we moved into this house 47 years ago my parents bought me a Kenwood mixer. The actual mixer didn't last but I use the mixing bowl that came with it at least weekly.

N - Noodles. First encountered back in early 1960s in Vesta chow mein. Now I use egg noodles in stir fries. Also the nickname of the Robert DeNiro character in Once Upon a Time in America.

O OVEN MITTS - used to bring hot things out of the OVEN. I have a problem getting them (small hands). At the moment it's Boundary Mills I can get them to fit. I get through a lot as a have a tendency to set them on fire.

Q QUICHE DISH - they usually have a wavy inside. Mine was made out of pottery but it seems to have 'walked' to my daughters!
