A tale of two keepers

Ex-City keeper Tony Coton reveals in his soon to be published autobiography "There to be shot at" came within 90 minutes of losing his leg after a collision when playing for City against Newcastle United in 1995. The contrast to how his injury was dealt with and the response to Ederson's clash with Mané's boot is stark.

How the times have changed.

Still the best keeper I've witnessed playing for City.

That's a horrific story, and some still long for the 'good old days' when the players weren't pampered and just told to get on with it.

Shame he turned rag but when you read things like that, and the way the likes of Quinn and Lake were treated, it's hard to blame him.

Goalkeeper stuff :

' During the match, your sense of danger completely disappears. You’re thinking mainly about playing the ball and avoiding making contact with the striker. And only later do you think back on how you played, and what could have happened. '

Yes, but only because I never saw Bert and It is a close thing with Joe Corrigan, Alan Ball (R.I.P.) cost us Coton and he moved on.
