This is going to be a crucial week of training with the team for new head-coach Vitor Matos.
With three defeats in the seven days after a two week International break, one where O’Dea took charge and Matos watched on and two of which he took charge proper, there has been hardly any time on the training field with the players
Those defeats have been moral sapping for players and fans alike and to concede eight goals in the process (3-0, 2-1, 3-2) just rubbed our noses in it.
It has been a dramatic seven days in charge for Matos, who is still without his coaching team, Tozé Mendes, Diogo Medeiros and Goncalo Ricca, waiting for work permits at the time of writing.
How he is expected to wave a magic wand and turn these players of weak constitutions and seemingly little skill into match winners in a week is mind boggling..
The precarious position we now find ourselves in is down to CEO Tom Gorringe together with Global Head of Recruitment and Analytics Adam Worth, who took over after the departure of Director of Football, Richard Montague in September. Worth oversees the club's recruitment and strategy, while Gorringe is responsible for contract negotiations.
This season after appointing then sacking inexperienced head-coach Alan Sheehan he then goes on to appoint another inexperienced head-coach in Vitor Matos.
Only time will tell how the latter high risk appointment works out but with the team currently in free fall, Matos has a huge task on his hands to turn things around.
A seasoned, charismatic Championship manager with plenty of experience in this hugely competitive league should have been the go to appointment to get us out of the mess we find ourselves in.
Does Matos have the time, the motivational skill, the tactical nous and the wherewithal to get us back on track? We had all better pray that he does, the consequences of failure are inconceivable.
