I got numerous texts when that first sub was made! All of us thinking it wasn't quite what we'd have done. Apparently there are a 'few carrying knocks' going into the Stoke game, hope one of them isn't Barlaser.
May well have been a good idea to substitute Barlaser, but choosing Smith as the replacement was a bit odd. Unless Warney thought that against ten men Smith would have a better chance to score, and that would boost his confidence - who knows? (Only resulted in him missing a sitter though!)
Warney also said that Wood had taken a kick in the game and couldn't run very fast. According to the post- match interview, Warney told him something along the lines of "Carry on, nobody is going to notice much difference!"
