Unstoppable Programme For Year 6 Pupils Announced
Community Trust To Deliver Programme Supported By Segantii Capital Management

Large

Blackpool FC Community Trust, with the backing of Simon Sadler and Segantii Capital Management (“Segantii”), will be supporting year 6 pupils with a brand new programme called Unstoppable.
The programme has been developed using best-selling author Dan Freedman’s new book, which focuses on supporting young people with difficult life topics, including mental health, knife crime, family dynamics and transition to high school.
Using the book, Blackpool children will read up to certain points each week and then be led through a classroom session by the Trust, discussing these hard-hitting topics. The children will then get to keep the book and workbooks they develop through their involvement, to refer back to when they are challenged in their daily lives.

Every school in Blackpool will be offered this programme free of charge and delivery will take place over six weeks, thanks to the financial support worth £50,000 from Segantii.
Chief Executive Officer of Blackpool FC Community Trust, Ashley Hackett said:
“This is a very important and ground-breaking programme that our team have developed and we thank Simon and Segantii for their unbelievable support. As soon as I discussed the programme with Simon, he was fully committed to helping with putting this in place.
"We piloted the programme in Westminster Primary Academy last academic year and the impact it had was tremendous, and we knew straight away we had to find a way to get this provision to as many children in Blackpool as possible. The programme will now be offered to every child in year 6 in every Blackpool school. We also have to thank Chris Debar and Jen Crofts, from my team, for developing this amazing provision and Dan Freedman for his continuous support, creativity and for allowing us to utilise his book in such a way.”
Simon Sadler, Chief Investment Officer of Segantii, said:
Segantii is very pleased to support Blackpool FC Community Trust in this important initiative to help the young people of Blackpool. I would like to thank Ashley and his team for putting this together and the participating schools for their commitment to the programme."
Dan Freedman, Best-selling author of Unstoppable, said:
“I spend a lot of time working with schools and that leap to secondary is such a huge one at a pivotal time in a young person’s life. How they adapt and develop at that point can have a huge impact on the rest of their lives and also on the wider community.
“I wrote Unstoppable in the hope that, as well as being a compelling story, it might offer a platform for young people to talk about their feelings and their challenges, so I’m absolutely delighted that the Blackpool FC Community Trust is taking the book and running with it in this way.
“Every time I have met and worked with Ashley, Chris and Jen I have been blown away by their dedication and professionalism. That’s why I’m sure the Unstoppable project is going to be truly ground-breaking. It’s incredible what a community team like this – with the wonderful support of Simon Sadler and Segantii - is able to do for the area and its effect will be felt for years to come.”
The provision will start in November 2019 and take place throughout the school year.

The club is currently reviewing its ticketing and retail presence in the Houndshill Shopping Centre, with a view to setting up a more practical solution.
While this review takes place and allows the club to assess its options, the current unit will revert to an information hub for the Blackpool FC Community Trust.

The appointment of Blackpool’s new CEO is “imminent” according to the club’s director Brett Gerrity.

He made the revelation during Saturday’s AGM meeting of Blackpool Supporters’ Trust, where he updated supporters about the current goings on at the club alongside the new commercial officer Linton Brown.

Those in attendance at the Bloomfield Club were also told plans for the East Stand improvements and the new training ground are now being considered.
The meeting, which was filmed by Lee Charles TV, saw Gerrity discuss the progress that has been made since his close friend Simon Sadler took over.
“I have to remind myself that it’s only four months since Simon bought the club,” he said.
“So much has been done, there is so much to do, but as supporters you don’t necessarily see what is happening behind the scenes.
“But I can assure you we are absolutely privileged to have an owner like Simon Sadler who - on a daily basis - is involved in every aspect of the club.

“He’s on the phone constantly, he wants to know about everything and he demands very high demands.
“He’s a man that has succeeded in business and he is determined that our club will be put back where it should be. But it takes time.”
He added: “If you look on the pitch, we are in a healthy position with a very young side that is growing. There are some stars emerging and I think Jordan Thompson is an example of that.
“Have we reached our potential yet? I don’t think we have. Do we expect to achieve our potential? Yes we do.

“We have a manager in Simon Grayson who is exceptionally experienced at this level and I’d suggest he’s the best manager to get us out of League One.

'It was meant to be':...
“That’s the ultimate goal, whether it’s this season, next season or the season after.
“There are no guarantees of these things but I can assure you Simon Sadler is working relentlessly to ensure we have the best team on the pitch to compete at League One and above.
“We’ve bought players that are young and are not the journeymen that have joined Blackpool in the recent past.
“There is an ambition there that the lads that have come in can play at a higher level. Of course it takes time for players to bed in and that is happening presently.

“Off the pitch, it’s equally as important because if Blackpool is going to succeed as a club then we must run the business properly.
“We have to have the right people involved and Simon has ensured that will happen with Linton Brown joining as the chief commercial officer. He brings with him an expertise that this club simply hasn’t had.
“We have to bring the revenue in off the pitch so that we can improve on the pitch and we believe Linton is the man to do that.”
Gerrity added that supporters can expect to see news of further improvements in the coming weeks.
He added: “We imminently have an announcement to make with regards to the new CEO and when that announcement is made, I think you’ll see the ambition the club is showing.
“This is a man that, despite his years, has tremendous experience of running several big clubs and will take us to the next level.
“This is a new chapter and it’s an ambitious move that shows Simon is putting his money where his mouth is.
“We have plans and drawings for the East Stand, we have plans for the training ground and they are being considered.
“Of course those are intensive programmes and don’t happen overnight, so it takes time, but things are happening.
“When he says the East Stand will be done and the training ground will be done, that will happen and it will happen sooner rather than later.”
Gerrity, a Poulton-based lawyer, ended his speech with a direct message to the club’s fans, saying: “I can say without doubt that we are truly blessed to have supporters that most clubs don’t have.
“The support we had at Bolton, at Rochdale and at Accrington was exceptional and every opposing board commends Blackpool on the volume, the intensity and the passion of our support.
“And at Bloomfield Road, we had guests at the Lincoln game who were blown away by how loud it was and how the fans sang throughout the 90 minutes.
“Simon appreciates everything you are doing.
“This is a different regime. We want to be approachable, we want to be open and we want to talk with the valued fans.”

Went in an alternative sort of restaurant in Brizzle this lunchtime. Ordered a vegan burger for my son and asked the waitress whether the vegans in the burger had been organically reared and humanely slaughtered. When she stopped laughing she told me they were milked before slaughter and their skins used to make the leather sofa. Nothing is wasted. That is what I call an ecologically sound approach.

Ben Mansford To Become CEO & Join Board of Directors

Blackpool Football Club is delighted to announce that Ben Mansford will become its new Chief Executive Officer from 1 November, with the former Barnsley and Leeds United chief also joining the Board of Directors.
Mansford joins from Maccabi Tel Aviv where he has spent the last two years. The Israeli giants won the Championship last season in record breaking fashion after three years without a league title. Maccabi also qualified for the Europa League Group Stages in Mansford's first season with them, while winning the Toto Cup in both 2017 and 2018. The appointment of Ben will see Linton Brown step into the permanent role of Chief Commercial Officer. The duo previously worked together at Barnsley.
A graduate in Law, Mansford is a qualified solicitor who specialised in sport, prior to becoming a Vice President at global sports management and media group Wasserman for many years.

He was appointed Chief Executive of Barnsley in 2013 and spent three years in the role at Oakwell, with the club achieving promotion to the Championship and a Football League Trophy success in his final season. Mansford’s switch to Leeds United in 2016 then resulted in him playing a major role in the resurgence of the Championship club.
Mansford will join Simon Sadler and Brett Gerrity on the board of directors at the Club. Ian Currie, who has served on the board since February 2019, will be stepping down. Tim Fielding will also be relinquishing his role as advisor to the board.
Owner Simon Sadler said:
“In building my management team, I have sought to find people who know the game of football as well as the business of football and would manage the Club with the same focus, responsibility and diligence as I would do so if I was able to be there full time.
“I realised that the Club needed a Chief Executive with a great understanding of every aspect of running a football club, from the playing side to the commercial side, who engages with the fans and community yet will also drive the development of new training facilities and stadium improvements, someone who can work with the Manager and the professional staff to drive the performance of the team.
“I am confident that in Ben Mansford I have found the right person for the role. Ben comes to the Club with a proven track record, having distinguished himself as Chief Executive at established clubs here in the UK and overseas. He has the leadership qualities and skillset necessary to drive the Club’s success on and off the field and his appointment as Chief Executive represents a key milestone for the Club. I am delighted that Ben is joining us.
“Finally, I would like to thank Ian Currie and Tim Fielding for their services to the Club during the period of transition to new ownership.”
Ben Mansford said:
“I’m honoured to be appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Blackpool Football Club. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Maccabi, however, after speaking to Simon in recent months I found his commitment and desire to succeed at his hometown club infectious and the opportunity was too exciting to turn down. I believe I can offer the Club a great deal. I’m confident that working with Simon Sadler and Simon Grayson, along with the management team that we will build, we can develop the Club to be one the supporters and the local community can be proud of.
“Blackpool is a club that enjoys a rich heritage. We now have a unique opportunity to build from the bottom up in order to restore the Club to a place it belongs. During the early stages of the season we have seen attendances grow and the passion from the terraces rise again. It will take a lot of hard work, there can be no short cuts, we must set high standards but if we all work as a team and be together, then I believe that the results across the Club will follow.”
