Champion Accountants has been appointed by Blackpool Football Club to provide a variety of accounting and auditing services.
The football club will join the firm’s other group of sports clients, with Champion Accountants also advising Salford City FC, Leigh Centurions and the Professional Footballers Association (PFA), as well as several international footballers, cricketers and rugby league players.
David Hardy, director of Champion Accountants, said that there is a “certain level of pride” in being appointed to support the strategy to rebuild the club.
He said: “We’ve already established an efficient, professional relationship, which will prove to many other similar clubs that there isn’t a need to appoint an international accounting firm to get your finances in order.
“More beneficial, is to work with a company that has a familiarity and knowledge of your history and who wants to see you succeed for the good of other people.”
Adam Jackson, financial controller at Blackpool FC, added: “We are delighted to appoint Blackpool-based Champion Accountants as our new auditor. Having already built a strong working relationship, we have been impressed with their technical knowledge and industry experience.
“Champion offers a high-level of service which is aiding a fluent audit process and will assist us as we continue to improve and develop our financial processes.”
Established in 1971, Champion Accountants occupies four offices across the North West: Manchester, Preston, Chester and Blackpool.
Blackpool Football Club, Blackpool FC Community Trust and the Blackpool Supporters Trust are pleased to confirm the launch of an exciting new collaboration that will bring the Club even closer to the heart of the community it represents.
From 6 December, we will be ensuring that every child in Year 2 from all Blackpool primary schools, will have their own Blackpool shirt to wear with pride.
This is a major initiative that would not have been possible had we not worked in close partnership together. We will continue to look for opportunities to demonstrate the power that a football club, it’s charitable organisation and its supporters can have when they work together.

“This is a fantastic initiative that we are very proud to assist with. For the fans and club to come together to make sure every child in Year 2 receives a shirt is a great gesture and we are really excited to use our contacts with every school across Blackpool to organise and deliver all the shirts to all the smiling faces. Collectively, we have a responsibility to build the next generation of fans and see more and more children in the town proudly wearing the shirt and supporting their hometown. This is the first of many plans we have to engage with the community, fans and local residents and is another key example that shows how far the Club, Community Trust and supporters group have travelled, since Simon’s involvement.”
