Can he kick it? Yes he can :grinning:

Derby County midfielder Callum Guy has today joined Blackpool on loan, prior to completing a permanent move to the club in January.

The 21-year-old, who has been with The Rams since the age of nine, made his senior debut as a substitute against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup last season.

He joined Bradford City on loan at the start of the year and featured 17 times in Sky Bet League One, having previously played in the division for Port Vale.

Once the January transfer window opens, the box-to-box midfielder will become a Blackpool player on an 18-month contract, with an option for it to be extended by a further year.

Blackpool’s deadline day signing Callum Guy says he didn’t have to think twice about making the move to Bloomfield Road.
The highly-rated midfielder made the move from Derby County yesterday, with the deal – initially a loan – to be made permanent in January.
He will become a Blackpool player on an 18-month contract, with an option for a further year.
Pool were also hoping to die up a second deal yesterday, with a move for MK Dons striker Chuks Aneke rumoured, but the club didn’t manage to get it wrapped up before the 5pm deadline.
However Terry McPhillips will undoubtedly be pleased to keep Curtis Tilt after the defender ended the window a Blackpool player despite strong interest from Ipswich Town.
Guy, who played for Bradford City in their 5-0 defeat to Blackpool last season, can’t wait to get going. “I’m delighted to make the move,” he said. “I feel it’s a big club with a very big history, so I couldn’t be more delighted to join. “As soon as I heard about the interest I was very eager to come here and see what it’s all about. “I’ve got a hint now - the stadium’s looking really good and I’m excited to get started. “Terry talked very highly of me which I was very happy about, so I just can’t wait to get started and work for him. “I know a few of the lads who I played against last year when it was a bad day for us, but hopefully I’ll be on the winning team this time.”
Guy, who has been with Derby since he was nine, has predominantly played most of his football for their youth team. However, he has spent two successful loan spells with Bradford and Port Vale, and he’s well aware the only way he is going to progress is if he plays regular first-team football. He added: “I think you can only learn so much from U23s football, especially at my age now where I want to get out there and play more and more league football. “I have done that in two other loan spells but to come out again now is a great opportunity for me. “I learnt vast amounts from those two spells, you gain so much experience. It’s important to carry on and not stop. “I want to kick on while I’m ahead. Especially as a young player it means a lot more.
“It’s a challenge I’m looking forward to. It’s never going to be easy just walking into a new squad and expecting to play. “So it’s going to be very tough for me so I will have to work extra hard in training to get in the team.
“I’m feeling good and I’m ready to play when called upon by the gaffer. I had a little injury but I’ve been training for over a month so I’m raring to go.”

Blackpool new boy Callum Guy spoke of his delight after marking his Seasiders debut with a long-range stunner at Macclesfield Town. Blackpool new boy Callum Guy spoke of his delight after marking his Seasiders debut with a long-range stunner at Macclesfield Town. Callum Guy The 21-year-old thumped home from 25 yards on Tuesday, when Pool drew their opening EFL Trophy group game 3-3. It earned Terry McPhillips’ side a point, though hosts Macclesfield took the extra bonus point for winning the penalty shootout.
The Seasiders were again wasteful in front of goal but they did well to battle back from 3-1 down with two goals in the final moments.
Guy, who signed from Derby County last week, was happy with his debut and said: “I was pleased with the strike. I haven’t hit too many like that in my career so far. I was pleased to see it go in the back of the net. “It was a very exciting game for the neutrals but we’re very disappointed not to come away with the three points. “We should have put the game to bed in the first half and we said that in the dressing room. “We didn’t play as good football in the second half as we did in the first but we dug in deep and got the two late goals.
“It’s easy to go under, especially so late in the game, but the lads have got great character and we’re on a seven-game unbeaten run now. That’s a positive.”
The box-to-box midfielder made his only senior appearance for the Rams as a substitute against Barnsley in the League Cup 12 months ago.
He joined Pool’s next opponents Bradford City on loan in January and featured 17 times in League One last season, having previously played in the division 11 times for Port Vale on loan in 2016-17.
Guy will officially sign an 18-month contract with Pool in January, with the option of a further year.
Asked why he wanted to make the move to the Fylde coast, Guy added: “I couldn’t really say no. I was very excited and knew it was a great opportunity for me. “It was a quick decision and I didn’t think too much about it. I just wanted to get down here. “Hopefully my performance at Macclesfield means I’ve given the manager something to think about for Saturday. “Every time he puts me in the starting 11 I want to play well and put myself in his mind and on the teamsheet.”

Impressive displays v Luton and QPR. This lad is looking to be a shrewd signing. Very Gnasher-esque in style and can carry the ball forward well.
As he gains his match fitness I can see him being a first team regular starter.
Promising.
