A Decision By Villa That Was Far From Pitch Perfect

I did find Bruce's comments about playing long ball because of the pitch a bit insulting. He does himself no favours when he comes out with that kind of bullshit.

Preston didn't seem to have any problems playing on the deck.

Or as MF suggested for the title.

Don't take the pitch with decisions

:59:

I'm here all week folks, get your orders in early as it gives me longer to ignore them.

Maybe Xia couldn't afford a new one.

Doesn't look the actions of a billionaire to me, not micro managing and all that either.

Hey ho, we will see in time won't we?

Hopefully he's learned a lesson, leave it to the experts.

I think we have purposely let the pitch go to drag all the other teams down to our level and it's working quite well . Just wish they'd stop watering it all the time

Totally...

The condition of the pitch left me far less worried than the names on the team sheet on Tuesday night.

Never forget that night at Highbury - magic days, magic team.

Ian Dimmock, AVFC Operations Director is driving big change in B6 – and he finds it immensely fulfilling, insisting: “I really enjoy the fact that I can help shape the future of Aston Villa – that is a phenomenal feeling.”

His No.1 current project is the installation this summer of a new pitch at the stadium – given sign-off this week from the Board of Directors, headed up by owner Dr Tony Xia.

The current pitch was last constructed in 2006 and was not a complete rebuild, which left certain issues below the surface as time progressed - the main issue being the drainage system, which was installed back in 1968.

The work will also see a change in the surface camber and a new drainage and irrigation system.

Great news.

And apparently, they are changing the camber on the pitch so the whole playing area is visible from the dugout area. It has not been confirmed if this was at the request of Steve Bruce or Jonathan Fear.
