A bit of a dilemma

Personally I would have the discussion with my consultant about the realistic chances of my recovery. I presume the people advising you to have the leg removed have a financial interest in you doing so?

In fairness his legal team haven't got a leg to stand on.

Thanks everyone for your heartfelt sympathies it's a good job I have Rhino skin and I don't mean the ugliness of it lol.

I am just amazed how you get about on your leg gator dude, honestly mate feckin hell sake i still cor get me head round how you have been getting about to Villa etc after seeing your leg when you flashed it to me :12: you will be alright :7:

HAHA flashed my leg tbh mate I get about ok at the moment it's my good leg that's starting to concern me more so having this done now could really save me in the long run.

LOL, hey i bet it will wear your other one out a bit with the strain and weight etc put on it, should probably think of a walking stick or some support you know for your good en?

The barrister and solicitor are only going off the consultants report mate this will drag my claim out by another 2 years which means they don't get paid till I do but I do know what you mean.

Yeah iv'e tried that mate think the problem was I was doing too much exercise because I have ended up snapping all screws and twisting the plate.

Well I am sorry to hear your troubles Gator. I had to have my bowel removed last year, it has changed my life, but I am not in pain anymore, I have a friend who has colitis still, and has refused the operation on numerous occasions where as I took the chance the first time I could, it's made my life better, and I am used to having a bag now, it's amazing what we can adapt too.

Is there no way your hospital can put you in contact with amputee's to share their experiences with you? (sorry if this has already been covered) I have had offers to speak to people that have had the J Pouch op (my next operation in January) to ease my mind and ask any questions, might be worth doing if possible.

Bloody hell, you gotta take it easy man and give it time it needs to get right fully if you do have it done etc, sometimes we have to have patience i think that will be the challenge for somebody like you mate, i am the same hate not moving about and always like being on the go as you seem

Yeah cheers mate glad you are ok now, I have been thinking of getting in touch with amputee's just to see if it really did improve their quality of life which is my sole concern tbh mate.

I'm fine mate, no worries cheers. I think that would be a good move, you'll get an honest outlook then won't you.

Yeah exactly Face think I might see if I can talk to consultant as well just to make doubly sure.

No might about it.

Insist on seeing the specialist and there must be online groups to talk to and yes, top idea, try to meet with a few.

Mate, do this at your place, not some barristers.

Yeah I will do J all though I may come across as upbeat, but i'm by no means taking the decision lightly I want to make completely sure I will be making the right decision for all the right reasons let's face it once it's off there aint no turning back.

You'll struggle with the hokey cokey but everything else will be ok.

Mate, it's a change in life, you've known me long enough to know I've faced a few serious changes as well. So yes, there is now a compromise to the ideal but the main thing is a change in life means there is still life.

Think that makes sense.

And upbeat is good but we all know this isn't a small decision or an easy situation mate.
