84 or more killed by terrorist in Nice

84 or more have been killed in France on Bastille day in Nice in France. A terrorist sprayed automatic fire amongst people celebrating Bastille day. ISIS has once more hit Europe, a French Tunisian (I understand) has carried out the attack. Men, women and children have been hit by this cold blooded murderedr I feel so sorry for the French, they seem to be hit so many times lately.

Surely it 's time for us all to act against ISIS now. We need our countries safe. When these people run freely around Europe, it's time for every country to STOP immigration completely until we can all establish who these people are that are entering the different countries and naval security around the coasts need to be beefed up with ALL immigrants sent back to deter more from attempting the journeys. We need to address the problems in the countries that they are coming from. There's no way that civilised peace loving countries should have their lives so terror filled by those getting in with such large cache's of weapon. In this case the truck that the terrorist was driving was full of grenades, guns, rifles etc.
If he hadn't been shot, the weapons would have been used to wreak even greater havoc.

The case needs fully investigating to find out how that all these weapons got through country security systems time after time. People like Barack Obama need to face up to the fact that these fanatic Muslims are behind all this instead of pretending that it may not be as he keeps making out.

My condolences to the French, they're not my favourite people but they're normal human beings and don't deserve this and this can't be condoned in any shape or form. At the end of the day this was plain murder. All I can say is thank God for the English channel, I think it prevents a lot of problems for us.

If they are not going to stop, the world has to stop them.

France was under a state of emergency. To me that means no fireworks and no Street parties. It should be war conditions.

Sorry to challenge you yet again Weshtel but haven't the vast majority of these ISIS affiliated terrorist acts been committed by local citizens born and bred in France (or neighbouring Belgium in the Paris attacks) and, for example, UK citizens in the London bombings.

You say he was a French Tunisian. That would mean he was a French citizen, does it not?

Your emotional responses to all this is understandable but your solutions are completely irrational, illogical and impractical to say the least.

And what's with: "they're not my favourite people" all about when saying they are "normal human beings" in the same sentence?
It completely takes the edge and sincerity off your condolences.

I've just read that the suspect was born in Tunisia but was a local resident of Nice. Also that the weapons were fakes.
Most of this seems to be pure speculation for now and he may well have been operating as purely a loner with no affiliation to any terrorist group. It's not yet known, either way.
There were of course people from many nations killed in the attack, all of whom I would happily consider to also be,normal human beings.

Sad and mad, mad world.....

Well now 'MAN ON', Aren't we the picky one today?
Firstly yes I am emotional a bit about this atrocity. Aren't you?

Yes you are right, many are being raised in the countries where these things happen, which is a good point and a good reason for stopping immigration until we are sure there are no terrorists among them and then we need to look at who we have in our country that already exist to see if we can root them out.

I'm not sure if he was a french citizen, he was described this morning as Franco Tunisian, I think what was meant was that he was French speaking as many are in Africa.

These are treasonable acts which is a word that is not used now because we've downgraded sentences these days. I would like to see a system like they have in the 'States' whereby they have to pledge allegiance to the state. Ok it's only words and terrorists don't adhere to promises but I would still like to see it. After all we house them and give them jobs, welfare etc etc, they should at LEAST acknowledge that.

The French are not my favourite people. I'm glad that you adore them. But that does not stop me from expressing my OUTRAGE and being emotional that good civilised and innocent human beings have been targeted by some moron in their own country and society where they should be feeling safe and secure.

My condolences to the French are intact, it has nothing to do with whether I like them personally, I would say the same of any society that was trying to be decent and had this awful thing done to them.

But you feel free to challenge me at any time, I hope you understand why you do it, it's what this forum is all about, expressing free opinion and I hope it clicks with someone and they see some sense in it. I'm sorry if it didn't in your case. Have a good day.

Incidentally MAN ON, there seems to be a huge anomaly here too, that here is a guy who attempts to mow down countless people, actually kills 84 and injures 50 and is obviously intent on killing on a large scale, one of the worst I've heard of and yet he has fake weapons in the van he used. Mmmmmm, something doesn't add up, maybe his van just went out of control after all and these were toys from father Christmas, it's a possible theory.

Now here's a new twist to the proceedings,

"A British woman has claimed her shopping trip to Nice was 'spoiled' when a terrorist gunman killed 84 people and seriously injured 50 more after he drove a 25-tonne lorry into crowds celebrating Bastille Day.

The tourist, named as Lucy Nesbitt-Comaskey, told Sky News: 'Maybe this is awful and maybe a bit selfish but it did spoil our shopping trip.

'We bought all this lovely shopping and now I can’t be bothered with it. It doesn’t mean anything now,' she said."

INCREDIBLE!!! YES, MAYBE!

Tel how is the fact that many of the terrorists are raised in the countries a good reason to stop immigration?

Many of them were born in those countries or at the least lived long enough to have a passport. Who do you want to kick out? everyone who looks a bit foreign? Or has a funny sounding name?

I think what I'm saying in all these, is that we need a firm plan of some sort rather than no plan at all that will give a definite outcome. Allowing people to get here with no control over who comes in is crazy, to keep them here once they have arrived illegally is equally crazy. It gives us NO control where we badly need control and we have a major obligation to keep our citizens safe. If people are decent British born or have been invited to live here because of oppression in their own country is fine, it means we have a heart and that we have vetted them beforehand, which gives us control of our borders, I fail to see why that is not a good policy. Either we have an immigration policy or we don't. Failure to implement it is just wrong.

I wouldn't be against revoking passports of people like that...they are representing the world how people from the UK are! You wonder how people can be so obvlious..

I was choosing to ignore her comments as anything else would have got me too angry.

Tel - I do understand the point you're trying to make but immigration is not what's causing these attacks. This is particularly when most of the perpetrators have passports for the countries they're attacking and in many cases were born in them. Something does need to be done to combat "IS" but stopping immigration unfortunately won't solve any of the deep rooted factors that are making the world an increasingly divided and hostile place, even if the Daily Mail and UKIP are telling you it will.

One thing I saw today that was utterly absurd was all the republicans making light of this attack saying France should ban trucks + etc... implying that this proves that arguments for gun control are invalid. Shows how powerful the effects of growing up in a society dominated by lobbyists and propaganda are if so many people can't see the link between the number of shootings in America vs countries where guns are illegal.

The Nice nutter had a criminal record for violence, theft and threats. Had just served a prison sentence. How many more alarm bells do you need ? He fitted the profile and was allowed his freedom. So the prison has in its custody a potential terrorist. He fits the profile.

A lie detector test with key questions linked to radicalisation and weapons training perhaps would have helped. The world needs to stop pussy footing around the issue and tackle it.

From what I gather he was full Tunisian, so an immigrant and a danger.

So any muslim with a police record is automatically assumed to be a terrorist?

Why not ?

Seems a logical place to start looking for terrorists.

There is a huge gap between starting a search there and saying that they don't deserve their freedom for simply being a Muslim with a police record.

Over here HGV drivers have to undergo security checks. He worked as a driver I think, so was he checked ? Any mental issues and a licence would be questionable. He had made threats. These vehicles should have card readers in the cab. If it's not valid on a data base the vehicle should be immobilised.

He fitted the profile. Young male immigrant, religion ? probably, criminal record. How many warning signals do you need ?

The French need to wake up. If they can't protect their people, impose a curfew on the streets . Flood the place with military challenging suspects posing a perceived threat.

A prime responsibility of a govt is to protect its people.

are you saying that France should have a curfew every single nigt.... and on top of that stop any/every Muslim-looking bloke/girl they feel like and ... what exactly ??..... body-search them , check their 'papers', take them for interrogation if they don't like the way the questions answered ??...

why not just round them all up and put them in concentration-camps instead.... would that make you happy ?
