5 Available Free Agent Managers

I watch my local side when I can (Glassboys for the win!) and really enjoy it. Been going for nearly 45 years.

Everything is absolute basics and totally different to Forest or any sort of ‘professional football. Atmosphere is totally different too.

I don't really have any allegiance to a particular non-league team, although did watch a lot of Hucknall Town back in the day. Nowadays I just look who's playing nearby and pick a game.

While they all obviously want to win, it is nice to go and watch a game where once the full-time whistle goes nobody really gives a shit about the result and just moves on.

Its Nuneaton Town (formerly Nuneaton Boro) for me.

We had to reform after going bust the year before last. Won the league in the first year, and are unbeaten after 9-10 games and top of the league again this season.

Absolutely nailing it.

We also have a financial model whereby we release detailed finances to the fans every month so they know where their money is going.

Its a good club.

? It’s about the system not a single player. We’ve spent over a hundred million on attacking talent this window. We also already have a striker who hit 20 goals last season.

You’re telling me we sign a big name striker and this suddenly turns around?

The offensive talent we have on the books are so much better than what they’re showing. But nobody seems to have any idea what they’re supposed to be doing and Ange picks the team like he’s pulling names out of a hat.
You may well be right. I'm just pointing out that our main man last year cost 15 million and the punt we have taken this year cost 11million. Perhaps not good enough? The market price is usually a good guide unless your lucky. Oh and that French bloke who alot on here are calling shit already.

Given the fixtures Ange had, Arsenal aside - it's hard to get behind a manager whose team are 0-2 at Swansea - in a cup that's perfect for us to use the squad (build fitness & a sense of team) but then capitulates to lose 3-2.

Betis - good for 30 mins, after falling behind but woeful second half - however, a draw looked a good result.

Draw away at Burnley - after being 0-1 up in 2 mins, a game that could have gone either way.

Sunderland at home - shite, had some chances late on.

FCM - never looked capable of winning, ditto Newcastle.

Disorganised, indisciplined, defensively weak & subs are reactive rather than pro-active. 15 goals conceded in 7 games!

I mentioned this before, that Ange does not seem to be an active coach in game, directing players but just seems to let them get on with it.

All managers need time, I do get that, but I just can't see (from what I've seen so far) how he will turn this around.

There is a saying, that if something is not broke - then don't fix it and whilst there may be some upset in the way Nuno was sacked (that he engineered) - this is a significantly better squad, nothwithstanding some injuries.

Ripping it up & changing our playing style wasn't needed.

Not just wasn't needed it was reckless and foolhardy given the context of new manager AND new players with no preseason. Jimmy says the fans are entitled, looks more like the owner and manager suffering a bit as well.

The owner is suffering A LOT. The manager not so much. Imagine the thoughts of relegation after pissing north of 200 Mill up the wall. A lot of people wouldn't sleep at night

Used to play against Nuneaton Boro for King's Lynn (early 90s), funnily enough they went bust too and came back as King's Lynn Town.

Who did you play for and in what league.

I used to play against Kings Lynn, but mainly in cup games, FA Vase etc. I played for S&L in the United Counties League, so as far north as Boston, and south to Arlesey / Stotfold in our day, and all in-between

Kings Lynn were in the Beazer Homes League midland division when i was there , i did have two spells late 80s & early 90s played alongside Andy Hunt who struggled to get a game at first but ended up playing for Newcastle, West Brom & Charlton ! We grew up playing youth football against each other . I left there as i was fed up with all the travelling and joined Bury Town who played in the southern division , first away game Newport (isle of wight) think they changed the name from Beazer to Dr Martens league at some stage.

Yeah they had a really good few years .
If you think being a promoted team in the Premier League is bad, I always say to people try being a semi-professional team in the Conference.
Brutal.
Its like watching University Challenge where getting a single question right is cause for a massive celebration.
Any points on the board feel like a magical gift from God.

A lot of clubs struggle with that step up , the standard is very good . I had a couple of season at Ely City in the mid to late 90s and Histon were our main local rivals , they went on to get promoted a few times right up to the Conference but found it a step too far and have slid back down the pyramid i believe. Some big teams at that level to mix with.
Just had a look and didn't realise they finished 3rd in the conference in their first year that surprised me , knocked Leeds out the FA Cup too , i do remember watching that one on tv .They did drop out the Conference a season or two after though. Think they're in same league as Nuneaton Town now .

Good standard and good players in those days.

I remember Rushden and Diamonds well.
They went through a phase where they had an absolute shitton of money but probably one of the worst grounds in their division including the two divisions below them. I went there 3/4 times to watch Nuneaton cos it was quite local to me, their ground was out near Kettering iirc.
I think that was mid 90s just before they got promoted to the League.

It was the Dr Martens bloke who owned them i think, that's probably where they got their coin from.

The R&D ground was a proper small stadium unlike Nuneaton Boro’s. It was a tidy small ground with some small conference facilities and the Dr Martins seconds shop at one end. R&D as a club diminished once the Dr Martins business moved to Asia. Had the best pies and no queues at the bar. View from anywhere in ground was decent but football never got above average div 3.

R&D ground was one of the best grounds eventually in L1 or L2, and easily the best in non league
In the Irthlingborough days it was the best pitch in our league also

I remember going to Nene Park for a pre season friendly with Forest.

Was a terrific, modern ground. I remember having a "diamond burger" from their in house caterers
