Very surprised to see Potter at the top of the list. I kind of think Dyche as a firefighter til the end of the season might make sense whilst we catch our breath. Upto him to then earn a longer deal or not.

Ten Haag i had never thought of. But from this list would probably be my choice if we want more than a holding manager.

He would need to be given time though.

🔴 Nottingham Forest – Free Agent Shortlist (Oct 2025)

1️⃣ Graham Potter

Why he fits: Premier League knowledge, progressive style, proven ability to build a mid-table team (Brighton). Can develop players and give Forest identity beyond survival.

Risk: Needs time and a clear recruitment strategy — two things Forest ownership doesn’t always give. Chelsea disaster still hangs over him.

Verdict: Best balance of survival + long-term project. If Forest back him properly, he’s the standout.

---

2️⃣ Sean Dyche

Why he fits: Premier League survival specialist. Will organise Forest defensively, make them hard to beat, and keep them in the fight.

Risk: Pragmatic style — ugly football, limited creativity. Long-term ceiling is mid-table at best.

Verdict: Safest short-term fix. If the brief is “just stay up”, Dyche is the man.

---

3️⃣ Edin Terzić

Why he fits: Took Borussia Dortmund to the 2024/25 Champions League final. Young, ambitious, tactically flexible. Could be a huge coup for Forest.

Risk: No Premier League experience, may see Forest as too small a step. Would need a serious sales pitch to join.

Verdict: High-upside gamble — if he says yes, Forest would punch above their weight.

---

4️⃣ Ralph Hasenhüttl

Why he fits: Knows the Premier League (Southampton), brings high-energy pressing football. Has shown he can overachieve with limited squads.

Risk: Very streaky. Southampton had incredible highs (9–0 wins) and lows (9–0 losses). Inconsistent survival manager.

Verdict: Middle-ground pick. Could work if Forest want an experienced hand with some tactical flair, but less safe than Dyche.

---

5️⃣ Erik ten Hag

Why he fits: Huge pedigree from Ajax (Champions League semi-final, developed top players). PL experience with Man Utd, strong on structure and pressing.

Risk: Needs total backing and control — Forest’s chaotic ownership would clash hard with him. Expensive, and reputation dented by United exit.

Verdict: Great coach, poor fit for Forest’s setup. High risk of quick fallout.

📊 Overall Ranking for Forest’s Situation

1. Graham Potter – ✅ long-term project & stability

2. Sean Dyche – ✅ safest survival option

3. Edin Terzić – 🎯 ambitious gamble

4. Ralph Hasenhüttl – ⚖️ middle-ground choice

5. Erik ten Hag – ❌ doesn’t fit Forest chaos

👉 If you were the board:

Potter = best if you’re serious about building.

Dyche = safest if you’re panicking about relegation.

Terzić = best if you want to swing for the fences.

The very fact that EM sought fit to appoint Ange out of all the possible replacements for Nuno is the biggest worry for me. Make no mistake about it he IS Nottingham Forest, he has complete control, I doubt if he ever seeks the opinion of others.

That’s my concern, no one, simply no one in football thought this was a good idea.
The day he was appointed we’d all heard the rumours and I remember thinking, ‘nah no way it can be him’.
Every football fan at my work can’t believe what we’ve done.

If you could jokingly say what would a Derby fan do to Forest if he was given control for a day, genuinely sacking Nuno and appointing Ange would be up there.

The drop off from the successful start to the season to where we are now and given the money spent is alarming.
I’m struggling to think of a club in the prem doing this in such a short space of time.

A lot of talk about Dyche until the end of the season. If you were him, would you join a club that isn't showing full commitment to you and plan to replace you? I know I wouldn't.

On the right bonus for success i think he would

Hes done exactly that before I believe when he joined Everton?

Which developed into a longer role

Unless im mistaken.

Ps the replacing him bit wouldn't be set in stone

Ie just do a job for us now and then lets sit down and assess at the end of the season

Hes been telling friends lately hes very happy not being a manager

But i have a feeling him and his Forest coaching team simply couldn't resist this opportunity

2.5 year deal at Everton

Xavi is available, might be on the expensive side but he's been out of work for a year. Imagine what he could do for MGW and Anderson.
Complete fantasy but if you don't ask you don't get.

Think we need someone more pragmatic who can hit the ground running in EPL as theres no time to learn or build slowly in this situation

I personally cant look past dyche for what we need right now

Got to be Dyche loves the club, has earned the right to work with better players than at Burnley and Everton which we have

Someone on this forum (in another thread) said Solskjaer was spotted at the game...

F@*k me sideways

If it's Dyche then we shouldn't take the piss by offering it to him until the end of the season.
