4th Favourites To Be Relegated.

Somebody seems to have got wind of something. To be shorter odds for relegation than Fleetwood, Tranmere and Cheltenham is shocking. Either the bookies are very wide of the mark or we are facing another dire season. If anyone has the faintest idea of what the chairman is playing at please let us know.

You don’t want to get down on the new recruits, and of course as Jamie Vardy and Jarrod Bowen and countless others have shown it’s possible to come out of non-league and be a wonderful footballer BUT …so far we have signed out of contract players released by other league one and league two clubs and seem to be running the rule over an assortment of waifs and strays. The managerial appointment took ages and if the stories are right we got about our fourth choice. The McClaren appointment is looking weirder by the day. None of it is likely to boost confidence that we have arrested our decline. I’m very worried about our prospects.

The McClaren appointment seemed odd to me from the beginning and is now completely baffling. Why? Why? Why? I have no idea. The reality of this pre-season is far worse than I anticipated in May. As has been pointed out - and I noticed a sharp turnaround in sentiment a week or so ago - the bookies have decided it's all smoke and mirrors.

I know I have senior moments but yesterday the YP published a piece in which McClaren called for a 'leap of faith' and said the club needed help from fans and businesses etc. This has excited much (negative) comment on social media and other forums. But surely I read this about two months ago? Is it merely a regurgitation of old news by an outlet desperate for something to say or a restatement by our invisible Head of Football?
