I see we currently have the best away record in the four leagues.
P14 W10 D3 L1 GF21 GA 6. PTS 33
Impressive - particularly wins and goals conceded, 6 against is ridiculously good.
Thought I'd take a look at how it compares with the best ever season-long away records in the third tier (since 1958/59 first year of nationwide third tier as opposed to North and South)
MOST POINTS:
Wigan 2002/03 51 pts
Wigan 2017/18. 51
Charlton 2011/12. 50
Doncaster 2012/13. 49
MOST WINS:
Wigan 2017/18 16
Wigan 2002/03. 15
Charlton 2011/12. 15
Doncaster 2012/13. 15
FEWEST GOALS CONCEDED:
Wigan 2002/03. 9 (!)
Preston 1999/2000. 14
Charlton 2011/12 16
Wolves 2013/14. 16
From looking across the years, lots of teams have achieved 12 away wins but once you get to 13 that's pretty exceptional and to let in less than 20 goals is also difficult to do.
Not saying we will get anywhere near these as we have some very tough away games in the remaining 9 but might be interesting to keep an eye on.
