3 Peaks for Marie Curie Cancer Care

Hope it is OK to post this donation plea.

Today a group of lads have set out to scale Ben Nevis, Scaffel Pike, Snowdon within 24 hours in memory of our friend Steven who passed away 6 months ago, due to bowel cancer, one week after his 31st birthday.

I'm the same age as Ste and have known him and his twin sister since secondary school - he was a great lad and is missed terribly by all who knew him.

Unfortunately the 3 peaks in memory of Ste fell during a pre-booked family holiday which left me gutted that I couldn't be a part of his tribute. Therefore I decided the best way to help is to try and get as many donations as possible.

If people could take the time to read Ste's story below it would be appreciated, if you can spare any amount of a donation it would be fantastic it costs - £9,300 a DAY to run Marie Curie's Solihull hospice so every little helps.

If it will help convince you, there is a bunch of Villa Season Ticket holders involved.

Thanks everyone.

Don't mind at all.

Good luck with it. I've done a few too many recently so not sure I can chip in much I'm afraid. Will do a small one!

Cheers Fear!

I know we all get bombarded all the time by charity requests so understand if people can't give anything every time someone asks, just wanted to get this publicised as much as I could.

Thanks to anyone who even clicked the link and a huge thanks to anyone who donated.

Quick update - the lads completed the challenge and are resting their tired bodies today. Around £5,700 has been donated through the above link and in total £7,000 has been raised apparently which is fantastic.

Thank you so much to anyone who donated.

What a fabulous total, hope they are proud of themselves, not easy in this day and age to get anyone to put their hands in their pockets.

Cheers Fear.

It is a great total but just reflects the esteem Ste was held in. They raised around £12,000 around his funeral - people he went to school with but hadn't seen him for maybe 13 years were donating £20-£50 a pop, everyone from his local gym, people he worked with, parents of people he knew...

Ste was one of the healthiest people you'd ever meet - the surgeons even commented on how they'd never operated on someone with such perfect muscle tone (or something along them lines) - though cancer is a bastard that doesn't discriminate. In August he was fine, by January he was gone. He'd have probably hated all this attention too - a modest a private person - but he would have been honoured and touched by people's efforts and generosity. We were never close friends or best mates, but we were mates and I miss him and think about him and his twin sister, who is equally lovely and a friend, daily.

I know I've already said it, but I'm really touched that anyone has donated at the request of someone they don't know in the memory of someone they never met.

It's awful mate, horrible for anyone, but you can half 'accept' with those who abuse their bodies, but someone who took care of himself like that... Life is very unfair.

Not trying to be sloppy or anything but I'm sure you'll always keep him close to your heart mate, some people are here for too short a time but make a hell of an impact whilst here.
