That seems a bit churlish on our part.
Making him slap in a transfer request. It's not like he's doing a Judas on us.
If we are not going to play the lad in any significant capacity - and it's a decent offer- we should do the honourable thing and let him continue his career elsewhere IMHO.

Don't feel sorry for him, it just means Forest will pick up the bill with his sign on fees. The whole point of these clauses is so that a player knows that if he goes against the clubs wishes, there is a price,.it should never be penalty free breaking a contract.

I get it.
But I also think that when we pay 10 million quid for a youngster and sell him for 55 million quid two years later we should show a bit of humility and move on without making the lad look bad in the eyes of the fans (which fans will do when he puts in a transfer request)

Move on. We dont need other clubs trying to dictate our transfer activity.
 
I only renewed my season ticket on the condition that we didn't start the season with Richi, Solanke and Tel as our front three. I am applying for a refund as we speak.
Only joking, I am sure work is taking place and deals will be done, both in and out. Although my Liverpool supporting friend cannot believe we are willing to sign Gakpo. We must trust De Zerbi though.

I think you're right SP, I do feel that the current 'ownership' want instant success, something tangable to show improvement and evidence that we're back, so to speak, so players need to be oven ready.

I've always said if we could do both we'd be cooking. Seems unlikely but even one of the above places us in an even stronger position than we were in last season.
 

Boro agree deal with Spurs for Phillips​

Latest from Sky Sports News' Lyall Thomas, Michael Bridge and Mark McAdam:
Middlesbrough have agreed a deal with Tottenham for centre-back Ashley Phillips.
The Championship side are set to pay an initial £7m, but that figure could rise to £20m with add-ons.
Spurs have also negotiated a 20 per cent sell-on clause and matching rights into the transfer agreement.

Boro are certainly making a push this summer. They've spent quite a bit of money for a championship side
