If we look back and see how many times in the last two season we've had to play square pegs in round holes, it does ultimately mean we have two players for every defensive position and one or two who can also play further forwards - the fear of getting caught out by injuries again, is a real one.

I've assumed Souza will get a loan and wasn't even thinking about Ben, if Udogie is such an injury liability wouldn't it be better to move him on?

It's entirely possible we can't. His injury record is such that his value will be affected and he/his agents may not even countenance it as they know that whoever risks buying him would be possibly buying a problem - and his personal deal terms would reflect that, and that drop could easily be 50%.

I suspect that the club have evaluated what's going on with him and bought to cover another injury riddled season - I hope I'm wrong.

Udogg, love him, is one of the least reliable walking wounded we have, He's incredibly young, and wow is he talented, but considerations....

Souza might be the NBT, but he's a more traditional LB, and isnt a real great fit for DeZerbi.....

We're being frustrated.

City's stance isn't as puzzling as it first seems. He's tied himself down to a lucrative long term contract and they would rather keep him.

The slags won't sell to us so Neto is a non starter as well.

It's looking increasingly likely we're going for other targets further down the list now. I just hope they work out to be a better fit than those we've bought in the past.

Sancho is a conundrum in many respects. Bloke was a regular in the England team at a very young age, on merit, looked the business so joins Manure which appeared à great signing and then nothing! Loaned back to Dortmund did really well again, returning to not deliver at United once again. Loaned back at Chelski does ok and they want to sign him but won’t accept à pay cut and would rather not play for a season. Like Dele Ali the talent is there but sometimes the mental side of the game appears to prevent them continuing their development and ability to perform at à high level.

Real shame it’s a no go as he should be a player all the top sides want.
 
From a conversation today, their view of the situ:

City have the hump with us; the Savinho saga has dragged on because right from the start a number of agents were in the middle between us and city and we didn't make a direct approach to City for some time and it's been played out in the media - City have been very annoyed by this, supposedly they refuse to respond - until they themselves deem they are ready.

We are now treading water, and it's been suggested they want to 'teach a few people a lesson' about how they control what business they do and when.

Agents leaking that we'd agreed personal terms seems to have set them off.

Well that's a complete waste of everyones time

Club less chance to replace him if do sell.
 
Forest are said to be prepared to pay £55 mill + add on's for Bergvall.

If those acting for them formalises the bid, it will be down to Lucas to decide if he wants it by handing in a transfer request - which would forgo around £5 mill in loyalty bonuses; we will not force him to stay.

Djurgarden have a 10-15% (depending on structure) sell on percentage if he is sold. At that sale price it would almost match what we paid for him!!

This should all be closed next week, one way or another.
