The thing with the Harrison signing Anderson replacement was that it's very apparent we wanted to recycle the original Anderson investment into something similar. This replaces Anderson in the sense of where he was when we bought him. Young and happy for a chance to prove himself while we have Schlager as the more experienced head.

It's not simple being able to steal other teams highly rated future prospects and looks like we got very close with Harrison having identified that Everton needed to raise cash. We seem to have followed up with an attempt at a Liverpool youngster which was dismissed immediately. Our scope of target for this is going to be very narrow and we can't just go throwing 30/40 mill at prospects in our position unless the risk reward is highly balanced on the reward side with a very high ceiling to their potential.

This is all indicative of good recruitment policy if you ask me even if we didn't get this signing over the line this time.

I’d also question this ‘they really tried’… all I know is they wasted time on Bergvall with about 2 bids at the beginning of summer, then not a single reliable journalist talked of any other bids for any other midfielder, then at the very end we failed to land Armstrong right before deadline day.

I think that’s a pretty shit effort to land a midfielder personally. If they can’t identify anybody else then I’d question how good they are at their jobs - let’s face it, every other signing has been Glasners and all last years were mates of Kia and Mendes. The recruitment team and Syrianos haven’t had a hit for about 2/3 seasons

I really don’t get the fact that us not getting an unknown yet apparently talented 18 year old for £40m has somehow turned a good window into a disaster

Apparently Balogun had seen what there was in Everton before changing his mind- and they could not persuade Tammy Abrahams or Joshua Zirkzee to go there either. Essentially, Liverpool is such a dump, players don't want to be there.

That is an example of one of the other handicaps Forest face. Although Nottingham is better than Liverpool, it is not as much fun for a young player to live in as being at a London club, or being around Manchester. Forest's attractiveness as a transfer destination has to factor that in.

Everton have a nice stadium though.
Much as I love the WFCG, we know it needs the forthcoming TLC.
