The club does not organise any kit and I'm not sure why anyone believes they do

We have a contract with Adidas.

We don't have a partnership with a kit designer and manufacturer to then design and manufacture it ourselves.

Adidas do all of that.

Maybe we have delayed a decision about what template to go with, but that's a pure guess and there is no reason why we would have

The club decides on when it’s for sale and design agreed… all within our control

I don't think we have ever gone anywhere near this late into a window without landing a target or some significant activity.

We do absolutely diabolically with only 4 weeks to get business done in a January window.

Surely there is some mitigation in that regard as it’s been a World Cup year?

Maybe I’m wrong but it does feel as if transfer business across the league has still to take off fully.

Also our transfer build up will have changed due to the manager change, again putting us at a slight disadvantage to some other clubs.

Transfer windows would be a whole lot easier on fans if social media didn’t exist.

I would suggest the possibility that we seem to focus so heavily on one target at a time because it kind of makes sense to do that.
We'll try as hard as we can to get that number 1 target but if we really can't make it happen we move on to number 2, which has probably been having some prep work done on it quietly away from Twitter (again the difference between what fans know and what is actually happening is probably pretty big - especially when it comes to secondary targets).

In the end, although it didn't turn out great last season when we were trying to add 10+ players to the squad, we do always get some business done by the end of Summer windows.

This time I don't think it'll be as much as a disaster if we add a few players at the end of the window as the volume of players is much lower probably so it won't be as disruptive and the squad we have is good enough to integrate players slowly.

The whole "deal has fallen through, serious disagreement between hierarchies" or whatever is always so dramatic too. Like they've ended up with a slanging match or in a Tesco car park. If negotiations were so far apart it's burned all bridges on the potential transfer then the talks wouldn't have progressed this far. You'd think it translates to "they've hit an impasse where neither party will budge - YET".

From the few reports… and we have no idea how much is true.. it’s a payment terms issue, I would imagine sporting want as much up front as possible and we are probably trying to break it up

If that’s true then I can’t see it being a death knell but I guess it depends how offensive either side is being in demands

Because it’s part of an agreement, they still gane to work with Forest on availability/ launch

They could even do a pre order from designs… it’s all better than doing nothing

You are wrong. Most clubs are doing business. Fulham signed 2 Real Madrid players the other day for instance. All the promoted clubs have brought players.

A typical kit launch will be the best part of a year in the making.

People talk as if Adidas just pitch up with a few designs, knock out the kit and then put them on sale.

There is a whole load of other stuff to take into account - there's usually a cultural story telling process that Adidas will use to sell the designs to the club, once that is decided, Adidas will have to arrange manufacturing alignment and book the child labour to get the kits made up, you then have the cinematic media release involving players from all of the teams which will take place when the players are back in training, the Global retail plan will not be finalised until the media release is in place and when that is all done you have the sponsors buy in.

I would be surpised if all of that is complete, and if it were, it would be counter productive not to have the kit already on sale

What hasn't been mentioned is, much like the perceived Reindeers link, is that Sporting wanting to turn the screw, have released this to leverage their demands out of Forest
The language in the press release would appear to back that up.
