2026 - 27 Pre season

Vital Football Legend
First match:
4th July 2026 - NCFC v Kings Lynn - behind closed doors at Colney

So presumably the start of training is not far away.........

City pre season training has started with non wc players returning Wednesday.
Fixtures and Carabao Cup match details to be released today

So we always have this problem of shots on goal sailing way over the bar - I've now found out why!!!

Just watched the Sam Field interview. About three quarters of the way through as they turn back onto the long sideline there it is!!!!

A set of goal posts and net sat on top of a huge mound with little space between the bottom of the mound and the adjacent pitches side fence.

Why on earth would you practice scoring into a goal up and on a bloody mound?????

Weird!!

Or are they short of storage space - seems unlikely on such a huge complex!!!

Clement is believed to have organised a training camp in London for mid-July, based around a friendly with AFC Wimbledon.

Was going to go to Wimbledon away on a nostalgic trip as bought my first house there and lived for a few years and have memories of away days at plough lane including Flecks debut.
Was going to stay overnight and make it a mini break with Mrs DG until she pointed out its the day of my Nieces wedding : )

City kicked off this season with a behind closed doors friiendly against Kings Lynn
Citys line up

Norwich City (first half): Kovačević; Fisher, Darling, Alves, Mahovo; Wright, Mattsson, Jurásek, Mahgoma, Schwartau; Kvistgaarden (Towler 22).

Norwich City (second half): Grimshaw; Stacey, Medić, McConville, Özcan; Field, Gibbs, Mundle-Smith, Baumann, Ameen; Jones.

Summer signing Bruno Alves started at centre back due to Cordoba s WC trip
Towler scored in the 45th minute and it was 1-0 at half time.
PC played two teams, one for each half, and won the game 2-0, the second goal scored by Dylan Jones in the 83rd minute.
Is it a worry that the likes of KV ( who was not well and subbed by Towler in the 22 minute) and Maghoma didnt get on the score sheet against KL?.

Next game another behind closed doors v Colchester on Saturday.

PC said that Kristgaarden got sick in the beginning of the game, so we had to take him off fast.

Training has gone well and been hard and they have tired legs but they will be stepped up each of the next 3 weeks by which time it will be full power.

Several first team players missed the Canaries opening pre-season fixture due to injury who are on the edge, who are almost back.

The WC players are yet to return but not for a couple of weeks.

Bruno Alves speaks little english so they have an interpreter.
How does a team, the manager and the captain pass on instructions during a game - is there a secret sign language they use or does Bruno have to have english lessons to get some basics up to speed?.

Brooks watched the opening 2-0 friendly win over King’s Lynn at Colney as he closes in on a playing return, following the knee ligament injury that curtailed his previous season.

Todays next pre-season game in a few hours

Norwich v Colchester behind closed doors

Who knows what other news there is??

Lets hope Maghoma and Schwartau get on the score sheet and maybe Mahovo,

The club gets experts in to teach players english.

Diallo was taught French when he played in France, last season he got taught
english by someone from UEA - University of East Anglia.

Norwich 0-0 Colchester behibd closed doors friendly result

Grimmy saved a penalty.

No goals - PC said that the players had trained hard all week and were made deliberately tired for the game so they can see what happens - knew what they were doing sriker wise for the first 10 mins then forgot through mental tiredness.
Some of the players wont be ready for the first games in August.

Mahavo took a knock and went off

Mundle-Smith felt his hammy in training so was left out
Vlad had a rest to give the other keepers game time
