2024 / 25 Season

Pools, and Limbrick, needed yesterday's result. There is requirement now to build on this and give us fans a belief that next season might be a positive one!
 
Shouldn’t be any reason why we can’t build on it, two home games, without disrespecting the opposition realistically should yield 4 if not 6pts.

Just goes to show what can be achieved when you ‘put all the right notes in the right order’. Referring to the Boston game, where eventually the coach actually got it right, opted for the who dares wins approach and deserved the plaudits, still needs a little tweak here and there in my opinion, but can’t please all of the people all of the time,

Earlier said about 4pts from the 2 home games, Solihull and Boston and thought we would draw the first and win the second however that was before I looked at the form of Boston. P8 W5 D2 L1, won their previous 3 all away from home before Saturday.
Took a paggering off pools but then got straight back on with it v Southend, scoring another 3 goals, that’s 6 either side of the pools game, 10 in total from the 3 games prior to pools and the game following, shows what an excellent result Saturday was. More of the same please coach.

Today's victory at Halifax should ensure NL relegation is avoided for this season, on the pitch.
As supporters we now need to see something positive from the boardroom in respect of club ownership going forwards.
I'm always wary of "new owners " - Pools have had some real bad experiences- as can be seen at Carlisle it doesn’t always work out for the best!

Very true OP. Although I'm a life long native Poolie I've lived nearer Carlisle for many years and take an interest in them. They were doing well with Paul Simpson until taken over by an American family. Then the proverbial wheels fell off. Looks like we'll be playing them next season. Be careful what you wish for.

If we go unbeaten, very highly unlikely, we can’t afford more draws than wins we need to get to the end of the season with stats reading WDWDWDWDWDWDWDWDL, at the very least. That’s only if the stars align and those above us don’t perform well between that day and this.

We are bringing in fresh blood but we’re not giving them a chance, similarly we’re not playing to the strengths of our proven players, maybe it needs a fresh pair of eyes and a contemporary approach from a leader, time will tell.
If we get Lenny 2.0 we know we’re going to get mid table mediocrity.

If we ever had aspirations of reaching the playoffs we’ve lost 3 more games than we could afford to, even if we win the remaining 6 games, not impossible but very unlikely.

To paraphrase Don McLean’s American Pie “February made us shiver”, in fact those 3 weeks, from 11th February to 4th March, we had 6 games a potential 18pts, we actually gained an embarrassing 2pts from 4 home and 2 away games.

From Limbrick’s appointment we had to win 8, draw 8 and lose that singular game, adding 32pts to our total, if we had playoff aspirations.

Up to now he has won 3, drawn 4 and lost 4, accumulating 13pts.
Add to that the [highly unlikely] 18pts from winning all our remaining games, we would still only have added 31pts, 1pt short.

We’re not going to make the playoffs but to win the last 6 games would be a bit exciting, probably hand the job to Limbrick for next term and hopefully mean we are fielding our best players in their most potent positions, on a consistent basis, or at least omitting those who are preventing us progressing.

Personally think we’ll gain 9pts, giving us 61pts and a 12th spot finish, no better or worse than last season.

Lose 1, to either Rochdale or FGR.

Think your predicted points total is about right, though I think the 6 points will come from victories over Dagenham and FGR.
I'm with you in regards to Southend winning playoffs, they seem to be the ones with momentum.
 
Think D&R was our best chance of achieving the 1 win to get us up to the 60pt mark, that came and went. On the back of 3 straight defeats Oldham looked our next best chance, that came and went. We’ve now got 3 games left against opposition all vying for the highest playoff spot, could we have a worse run in?
Still, it’s not all doom & gloom we have Gateshead who are all over the place at the moment and could easily be replaced by Southend, in the final playoff place, if they’re not careful.

Unfortunately we failed to capitalise on opportunities and may well struggle to achieve 60pts, needing a win and a draw against, current, 7th, 5th & 3rd place opponents, still do-able but challenging.

Hopefully we don’t lose the final 2 games, get a draw in each and my points prediction is bang on. W1 & L1 or D1 & L1 and I’m a point out either side of my prediction of 61pts.

Can’t remember ever seeing us win at Rochdale so I’m going for a draw.

Outside of pools’ trip to Rochdale there’s some interesting games today in the National league.
Don’t think we’ll win today but will be watching closely the antics at Boston, who may well turnover Gateshead, and Southend’s late kick off v Wealdstone, which if their stars align could see them replace Gateshead (or Halifax even) in the playoffs, all good stuff.

Pools - draw 2-2 or 2-1 defeat unfortunately.

Gateshead seem to have fluffed it.
Playoffs should be interesting, and though York will start as favourites there's always a twist or two.

I'll not mention your Pools prediction Billy2 😒
I fear that the players have succumbed to concerns about their and the Club's future, and it is affecting their performance.!
 
Now the dust has, almost, settled on the 24/25 season looking back reveals that no matter our hopes and aspirations Pools seem intent on frustrating us supporters.
What is now a yearly procession of managers, a brief flirtation with relegation ànd Playoff qualification, followed by a season end hiatus in respect of ownership and investment for the following season.
It's never dull, but I'd swap it for a season of stability and progression.
