2024 / 25 Season

Expect us to be sharp out the blocks, opposite side of the coin to Hartley’s side.
How sustainable that will be we’ll have to wait and see.
Think we may need a bit more strength in depth for it to be season long.

Hope to see us challenging for automatic, expect a top eight finish at least.

Would like to see a midfield diamond with Featherstone sitting in front of the back 4 and Campbell in a number 10 style role but forming part of a fluid front 3 with Mani and Joe.

It would seem Billy2 and Mr Sands that we all crave something similar, in that we hope for an improvement on last season and, perhaps, a tilt at the playoffs.
I'd also like to see a season end with the same manager as at the start, and no off-field drama!

I do think the squad is a bit thin in some areas, but I'm sure Sarll is more aware than I of what is needed.
 
It’s early doors but at least we’re keeping up with the pack, we might have had more points on the board at the same point last season, even though we had suffered one defeat. Is it as pretty, I’m not so sure, do we have technically better players, I think so, are we using them to their potential I don’t think so. Sarll has already played two ‘get out of jail free’ cards how many more does he have up his sleeve? Let’s see what Monday brings.

I don't think it's a good idea messing around with complicated formations. Stating with 4-2-3-1 then changing to 4-4-2 before reverting to 4-2-3-1 (according to The Mail) . Players at this level are generally not that adaptable.
 
Not sure what to make of the Woking result, or Sarll's post match comments.
Obviously, losing two key players to injury and dismissal early in the game was inevitably going to have a negative impact. However, the absence of Waterfall from matchday squad is bemusing and the lack of cover (small squad) in midfield and attack points to lack of preparation for a promotion pushing season.
Time will tell.

I agree that all you can say at this stage is 'time will tell'. We'll get a picture at the end of the season, but not yet by a long chalk.

Also, some people seemed to be all too ready to blame Hunter for the sending off but if you watch the replay on the official site, the decision on the second yellow was very iffy indeed. You could argue that it wasn't even a foul.
 
Results (points haul) from upcoming away matches - Boston and Ebbsfleet - will give an indication of where season is likely to head.
4 points, or more, should be the target!
 
Hopefully it doesn’t look like it, this morning, and hopefully the penny dropped second half last night with the manager seeing the light.

Being consistent is the key to unlock the door out of here, think he’s got that with the defence, the midfield needs the work. When that happens the forward players, in Mani and Grey will find last seasons form.

Will management changes at Ebbsfleet impact on Pools tomorrow?
Most clubs, not Pools, get a "bounce" from changes to team leadership.
 
This group of players deserve better. We’re where we are, points wise, through good luck rather than good management. Bullsh!tt3rs either get found out or move on before they get found out, only my opinion but he’s been found out.

Still early days and plenty of games left to make inroads on Playoff places.
Nevertheless, I think this will prove to be another season of NL mediocrity for Pools. We appear to have the same issues that have blighted the club for years. Can't produce 2 performances in a week ( home or away), have recruited players with dubious injury issues, etc
Oh well........!
