2018 Summer Transfer Thread

Thought we could have a single thread to discuss any potential incomings and who we'd like to see shipped out.

I personally would like us to go for Lyle Taylor from Wimbledon, his contract is up and I doubt he'd want to stay. Only problem may be interest from the division above.

It depends on who SL decides to keep. We may be needing 7/8 potential starters however I suspect 4/5 is a more realistic target. I would be looking as a matter of urgency a quick striker, left back, or 2 depending on Garmston and the midfield with the exception of Byrne needs rebuilding.

Targets

Reilly and Sean clare please, an Aaron Morris replacement and some genuine pace of wide, a la dickinson

Up front not really sure who that fox in the box should be.

I think we need to look at using the loan system better than the last couple of years like some of the other clubs do

Jack Baldwin from Posh (CB, RB or CM) and Lee Brown (LB) from Bristol Rovers would be a useful signings, former transfer listed, latter contract is up and wants to move closer to London.

Anthony Grant from Posh as the holding deep midfielder is listed.
30 years old so still a bit of life in him.

His main 4 targets up top as per his own words at the POTY do are: Lyle Taylor, Karlan Ahearne-Grant, Kristian Dennis and Macauley Bonne.

According to a Charlton ST holder at work, Karlan Ahearne Grant is under contract and is very highly thought of.

All got good records but only Taylor and Bonne are out of contract and over 24 I think.

I'd hope that he wants to do as much business as possible as early as possible to get a good pre-season.
The way I see it, you should make an offer, give a reasonable timescale (say a week) for the player to make up their minds and if no decision, then move on.
In the past, we've been hostage to players dithering while looking elsewhere . Joe Martin comes to immediate mind.
They either want to sign or not.
If not, move on. there are literally hundreds of players looking for work.

We should have signed him first time around when he was at Ebbsfleet - has a good eye for goal, I would take a chance on him
Yes a possibility as he’s on League 2 wages, all be it he was Barnet’s highest paid player.

I really liked him when i saw him for Barnet against us. He slaughtered us in the friendly we lost at their place a couple of seasons ago. I thought he'd be a great addition at the time. That said, if he's just gone down from league 2 does this mean he's maybe not as good as he once was? How old is he now?
