2018 Rugby Union Six Nations Championship

Pride of Lions

I am now official
Well, this coming weekend sees the start of this years Six Nations Championship.

Personally, I feel it's quite open, but I'll be going for England of course.

On Saturday, we have Wales v Scotland and France v Ireland and on Sunday we have Italy v England.

Can't wait.......

Yes, would expect England to win it again, but plenty of injuries about (for all teams) so could be a bit more open than you'd think.

Wales really struggling in the respect and Scotland's form of late suggests they could upset the Welsh.

Looking forward to it as usual!

I don't like rugby. I struggle with games where you are likely not to see the actual whole point of the game (i.e touching the ball down behind the try line) because there are a load of hairy arsed men wrestling each other on top of the ball so you can't see it.

England and Ireland look the strongest. Scotland are on the up and up. Wales are stagnant. France look all over the place. Italy seem odds on for the wooden spoon.
But the beauty of the 6 Nations is that anything can happen, and often does.

Yes, BBJ, what a finish!! I thought he was about 10 metres too far out, but BOOM!! Jonny Sexton is the man, ice cool under pressure :1:

What's this BBJ, speechless?

What a dramatic end to that match...... that drop goal of Johnny Sexton..... brilliant.

It wasn't a classic but a hard match ruled by 2 tight defences.

More than I can say about Scotland. I think we all expected a tight game with a score either way deciding it, but 34-7?...... what was that all about? I think Scotland had the wind knocked out of their sails with those 2 quick tries.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring?.......

Well, I'm quite pleased today too.

England warmed up for harder tests with a comfortable 15-46 win in Rome.

Roll on next weekend....

Yes, made a little bit hard work of things until the last 20 mins or so, but over all, a good start, good chance to see a few squad players and roll on next weekend!!

Not a match I enjoy, really not keen on Italy being in the (what was 5) nations as they are pretty much always the whipping boys.

Suppose it gave us a warm up though.

Yes, Fear, apart from the occasional win over the next worst team (that's sometimes been Ireland) they're not really progressing too much.
I've heard suggestions that there might be sense in having a two tier European championship with the winners of the second division getting to meet the wooden spoonists for a tilt at getting promoted.

That's not a bad idea. I'd just have one promotion/relegation place. See if anyone else can get a competitive national rugby team together.

Italy went through a spell where they looked like they were making progress but they have gone back to being dead certs for the wooden spoon.

That was some kick by Sexy.

Just thought after so long they might have progressed. As they haven't, it seems a bit of a waste of a game really. But as I posted yesterday, it might actually play into our hands this one, as it was almost just a warm up match !

I can't stand the game so makes no difference to me who wins the egg chasing championship.

That Simmonds fella, playing at 8 (he's probably a 7) but with the pace of a 13? And the 10/12 axis? Isn't it?.*

*Ron Manager just said all this to confuse Fulford and Melon Donkey. I have no idea what it really means...

Looking forward to tomorrow's match.

I must have a moan though. Firstly, the kick-off time, and even worse than that, it's being televised by bloody ITV! You never know, we may see some rugby between the adverts..... :29: :29: :29:

Forecasts for tomorrow -
Ireland to beat Italy
England to beat Wales
France to beat Scotland
