2018-19 Comparison Stats

Match 36 Comparisons:

Corresponding (Round 2, Match 17) :
-15 pts, -9GF, +4GA, -13GD

Corresponding (Season) :
-1 pts, -1GF, +2GA, -3GD

Round by Round:
-1 pts, -3GF, +4GA, -7GD

You can look above for our losing stats, but this is our 12th loss of the season, joint worst since 2009/2010. We have suffered the 8th defeat in the second round which is the highest in the last 11 years (didn't have time to look before that).

We are lucky that all the teams around us are bottling it just as bad.

Looking at the second round is a scary sight. We are 8th with 25 points, same as Newcastle, 1 point above Palace and 2 above Southampton, Watford, Everton and Leicester.

Just shows how far our standards of performance have fallen in the last few months.

Match 37 Comparisons:

Corresponding (Season) :

9th defeat of the second round.

In the memorable colapse of the 2011/2012 season, our second round resulted in 7W, 6D, 6L which is 27 points. If we win our last game we will only be one point better.

Attached a visual for our 2nd round results vs last season.

Lost for words.

A tale of two halves.

Second round 26 points is the lowest scoring round in the 11 years I looked, one less than the 2011/2012 second round.

On to the CL.

Thanks Pollo, great stuff all season.

So Liverpool have the 3rd highest ever total of points tally behind CIty's last 2 campaigns. Our league finishes have gone as follows in the last 5 years.

14/15 - 64pts 5th W19 D7 L12 GF58 GA53 GD+5
15/16 - 70pts 3rd W19 D13 L6 GF69 GA35 GD+34
16/17 - 86pts 2nd W26 D8 L4 GF86 GA26 GD+60
17/18 - 77pts 3rd W23 D8 L7 GF74 GA36 GD+38
18/19 - 71pts 4th W23 D2 L13 GF67 GA39 GD+28

With all the stats (except draws) following the same pattern for 5 years, the only question is whether they start trending back towards the 16/17 numbers in the 19/20 season? I actually think they will.

So do I. The World Cup had a massive impact on this season.

According to reports in France, PSG are looking to trump us on NDombele.

Had a feeling that would happen. In Jan it was about PSG trying to get in a cheaper player like Gueye and it felt like that's because of FFP. Obviously leaving it 6 months has opened up another financial year and they can go bigger.

Well they're saying that with Cavani probably going, Rabiot and maybe a couple of others, plenty of room for dealing has opened up.

If so, it makes sense for them to get the best 'home'growns' they can

We are still not on the same playing field as PSG and others. Until we do SOMETHING...we will be second shelf.

Remember, nobody remembers who finishes second or runner-up.
