Was a very funny wind up.

On to the 4th Test I expected Jennings to be dropped and Surrey's Stoneman to open with Cook. Seems Jennings getting another go despite averaging 15 runs over the last 3 Tests.

I guess him getting 40 odd partly saved him. It seems like the opening spot is up for grabs really.

Haseeb Hameed has not done so well at First Class level recently but he played well when he got the chance at test level. I suspect he will get another go at some point.

I think Stoneman needs a try out. Possibly against WI later this summer. We really do need to sort our top order out before the winter Ashes down under.

I guess Jennings has five years on Stoneman. Not stopped some of the recent (older) call ups though!

Yes my other concern about Stoneman as an opener with Cook as they are both left handed. I prefer to have left and right handed openers. That way we get the opposition to rearrange their field every time the strike rotates. Deep fielders have to run 80 yards each time :he he:
