2015 Cricket World Cup

Alert Team
A bit tardy with this thread as the tournament is now underway.

New Zealand already comfortable winners against Sri Lanka , the Kiwis are dark horses.

Australia 342-9 against us. We will do well to get anywhere close to that I think.

Humph.

Poor performance by England . New Zealand next and I don't fancy our chances in that one either.

I see England started well then. Boycott was scathing with his criticism of Morgan against good bowling in an interview yesterday. As usual it seems that Sir Geoffrey was correct (Morgan out for a duck).

Oh I agree . Ireland have some very decent players and are no pushovers. I was more lamenting the state of West Indian cricket at the moment.

I'm now officially supporting Ireland for the rest of the World Cup, BBJ. What a performance.

Good man, Heath.
I am still a bit bemused about Ireland now having a half-decent cricket team. Long may it continue!

Amazing stat is that only 6 times have scores of over 300 been chased in the World cup and Ireland have done it 3 of those times.

Ireland have a cricket team??! They must be all the posh bastards from Dublin 4.

I'd watch them if I had a bloody clue what was going on

It's a great game, SJ.
Some of them are indeed D4 types but not all. Like in rugby, the team represents the whole island so some of the players are from the north. A few (not unlike the English team) are from the southern hemisphere.

Cheers for the info BBJ. I'll have to get me a "Cricket for Dummies" book!

So how do players from the Southern Hemisphere qualify to play for Ireland or England? Is there a granny rule in cricket too? :17:

It's based on residency. Obviously, having an Irish granny wouldn't hurt.
