15 Point's For City To Play Catch Up

There are now five games left for Manchester City to close the gap on Tottenham, hopefully Leicester City but we are back level with Arsenal.

Leicester hold an eight point lead over Spurs, who unfortunately hold a five point gap over us.

With Leicester 13 points ahead, and 15 left to play for, it's going to be incredibly tight and possibly unlikely but hopes have to remain of at least taking second spot this season.

Manchester City:
Newcastle - Apr 19 (A)
Stoke - Apr 24 (H)
Southampton - May 1(A)
Arsenal - May 8 (H)
Swansea - May 15 (A)

It is an exciting finish to the season, great to see other teams in the mix shaded with a slight disappointment that we are not making a closer challenge.

No team gets through a season without dropping points (even the Invincibles didn't win every game) but the key moments for me which have made a difference - home defeats to West Ham and Spurs and the away draw against Villa. There are other games (away draw vs rags; home defeat to Leicester) but you can't/wouldn't change everything....

All other things being equal had we won those three games the table would now look like this....

Leicester 73 pts
Man City 68 pts
Tottingham 63 pts
Ashburton Grove Bottling Factory 60 pts

That would put the title well within range but hey ho, the squad has found form and is delivering. Time to put the Barcodes to the sword.

Feeling a lot more confident after Saturday's performance and result. Combine that with our usual strong finish and 2nd place is not beyond the realms, I'd be happy with fourth though.

If Liverpool win the Europa League then the fourth spot goes and so we have to finish third, at least. Failing that we'd have to win the Champions League to ensure top level European football next season.

I think it's only if we win CL that the fourth spot goes T. Spain had 5 teams in CL this season after Sevilla won the Europa last season.

Yup - we only lose the 4th place IF City win the CL AND Liverpool win EL (and both finish outside top 4), as we can only have a maximum of 5 teams in CL

I stand corrected - thanks for clearing the issue up :026:

So, everyone is tipping Leicester for the title...but they still have to play Swansea, the rags, Everton, and Chelsea. That's not easy feat for them, and I'm still tipping Spurs for the title.

So, if both Spurs and Leicester capitulate...we could slip in to win. What an end of the season that would be...

Love your thinking Philly

I'm the same. Still playing my violin while the Titanic sinks and the deck chairs are being swept away around me.

The eternal flame.

Think United are the only ones who can keep us out of Top 4.
They can reach 71 points max by picking up 5 wins out of 5 which would leave us needing 10 from our last 4 to match them (our GD much better).
My guess is we'll take 8 from our 4 matches so they would have no margin for error if we can do that-4 wins and 1 draw would leave them level and our GD would see us through.
