Stumbled across a City blog via one of the NewsNow links - some sounds points being made and in one article on injuries, the sort of stuff some of the pundits sat in studios for Sky and BT Sport ought to be delivering (except they are too fecking lazy)....

"The fact (and fact it is) that Nasri, Kompany, Delph, Zabaleta, Fernando, Mangala, Bony, Clichy, Silva, De Bruyne, Aguero and Toure have missed a combined 128 Premier League games. That's an average of nearly eleven (!) league games per player. If you take out Nasri, you still have an average of nine games missed per player."

A telling statistic.

The full article is worth a read as are other posts on this site set up and run by one of our newer fans (admits he has followed City since 2011 and seeing Sergio's first game for the club). Welcome to the world of being a City fan. Probably wasn't expecting it to be this frustrating.

It's definitely been a factor in our struggles, there's no denying that. But when it comes to sympathy to that from outside I just think of Arsenal's similar issues in recent seasons and did I feel sorry for them? Not a single iota, truth be told.
 
It was unfortunate to lose both Centre Backs, I like Otamendi and sure that he would have seen to the rags .

Great find BD and that has been the problem not the amoun t of injuries but the number of games key players have missed.

Nor should you/they. It's not so much a claim for sympathy as looking for an explanation of why we've been quite so bad. Injuries have undoubtedly played a big part in that.

Yeah, the point I was trying ( badly ) to get across was in response to Skoorb's calling for pundits to recognise the fact that our injuries have cost us. They will have no sympathy for us and so ignore it when it comes to their analysing. This is as a result of having little or no City apologists in the media.

The likes of Arsenal on the other hand have plenty of apologists so their injury issues will be highlighted.
 
Next time we play the rags and we hear that Rashford is injured we will rejoice and give Demichelis the captains armband. Teams have injuries, so what, the big teams shrug their shoulders and move on. The media are biased - so what, we're biased.

One thing that occurred to me re injuries is that when I was 'growing up' an injury might lead to a youngster getting a run out - an exciting event! Take the Chelsea game and the odd League Cup fixture out of the equation and that doesn't happen - how many youngsters has MP started, KI72 is the only one I can think of in three years and that was probably only because Bony was unavailable. For example - Clichy gets injured and no matter how poor AK13's form is he will get the nod over a promising Academy graduate - same with the centre halves.

 
The thing that pisses me off?

Injuries DO have a huge impact on a team's performance - both Arsenal and Stretford have had a huge number of injuries this season, and it could be argued that they'd both have done very much better than they are without them.

It's also evident that injuries have badly effected us.

The main difference is that when it comes to the Latte Brigade and the Swamp monsters the media always mention the injury toll - when it comes to City, we have "a world class player for every position in our huge squad (ie the same size squad as everyone else FFS!) and injuries are no excuse whatsoever.
