    Monday joke (ng)

I heard Arthur Smith tell this one on the radio years ago, and while my version probably isn't a patch on his original, but it's still one of my all time favourites The old brigadier finally popped his clogs, and after a while his widow, started to get worried about him as he had been so used...

    Monday joke (ng)

Not new, but worth posting A woman went to a pet shop & immediately spotted a large, beautiful parrot. There was a sign on the cage that said £50.00, which seemed awfully cheap. "Why so little," she asked the pet store owner. The owner looked at her seriously and said, "Look, I should tell you...

    Gills programmes offered

During the lockdown I've decided to have a clear out of stuff that, frankly, I'm not really going to need any more, one of the criteria for deciding on what stays and what goes being want above need. So, I've got a few Gills programmes that are going to go. If anyone wants them please pm me...

    Jack Tucker wanted by

Following a link on the BBC Sport's Gossip page, it seems that Celtic are interested as well https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/celtic-emerge-contenders-aston-villa-17814218 If it's true then a bidding war can only keep on increasing his value. I commented on a...

    Your gigs/concerts - biggest stars

Somewhat delayed comment on Caravan as I have been trawling the memory banks for the name of the cafe in Canterbury which I guess must have had some personal link to someone connected with the band as you could quite often hear tracks that had not yet been released - these were the early days of...

    One of our own

In the few matches I've seen this season he's been very impressive, and also credit to him for signing a new contract which will enable Gills to get some decent money when he does move on. As far as values go, I think it depends on whether he goes to a Championship or a Premiership club. if he...

    Your gigs/concerts - biggest stars

2 somewhat contrasting festivals!!! My main memory of Weeley was a guy who was even more detached from the events than most, wandering through the crowd calling 'Wally ….. Wally ….. Wally..." Don't know if he ever found him. But at least the sun shone. My memories of Bickershawe have been...

    Half time music at Burton

It made a significant change from the usual tub thumping fare that usually gets served up. Who else recognised Dawes 'From A Window Seat' as the last track on the Burton Albion half time playlist? Dawes - From A Window Seat Hugely accomplished band. Saw them supporting (and backing) Conor...

    Man City. N/G

The crowd reaction to the UEFA CL 'anthem' played before home games has been a little less caustic recently. Think they'll make up for that on 17th March

    Man City. N/G

The fine is significantly the lesser punishment. IF the ban sticks, and City have already said they're going to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the cost will be probably in the region of £75m per season in lost revenue. Plus of course as mentioned by NathanH, existing players might...

Almost the second best live rock album ever

First, I presume you have the double CD of the Fillmore East concerts. The (double) album is outstanding, but the CD is even better produced. As far as best....?? Wheels of Fire Vol. 2 must run it close - OK, only one album, but THAT version of Crossroads alone must propel it to super stardom...

    Huddersfield sack Jan Siewert

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49319183 That's 2 gone in 2 days after Sol Campbell's departure on Thursday. And we're only just half way through August. But with 1 win in 19 games I suppose he was living on borrowed time.

    EFL - Restructure or not

Well that clearly stopped Bury overspending on wages and getting into the situation they're now in, didn't it. No point in regulations unless they're enforced.

    EFL - Restructure or not

Any restructuring would have to accompanied by wholesale changes to the way football in the lower leagues is funded. But it's not just a matter of chucking more money into lower league clubs, as any person or organisation receiving a grant (as that is effectively what it would be) should be held...

    Desperate Times for Bury

Totally agree about beyond hopeless, unfortunately. But my response was to the question of how much longer can they let this go on. I think we all agree that on 23rd, or very shortly after, Bury's membership of the EFL will be removed. But they have got until 23rd, so it goes on until then.

    Desperate Times for Bury

Until 23rd August, which is the deadline the EFL has given them to show they can fulfil their financial obligations under the CVA and for the season.
