Other Clubs News Discussion Thread 2

I dont log on to comment much in the last few years, but the critisizm aimed at JPA in my opinion is completely unwarrented. What he is doing is giving a wider context to the unbelieveable progrsssion that we are making in such a short space of time. If we want to compare it to the good start of...

The Summer 2020 Transfer Rumour Thread

I honestly wonder what planet the people are on when they think we can afford and attract ‘proven talent’, they go for +50m! That’s not our league anymore/yet. We can’t attract those players without paying significantly over the odds on fees and on wages. Therefore we have to take risks on...

The Summer 2020 Transfer Rumour Thread

I think they are both really poor (Trez & AEG) so im really hoping we get 2 big improvements on the wings, as well as the striker. Anything else for me is a bonus.

The Summer 2020 Transfer Rumour Thread

I live in Hamburg (1 hour from Bremen) and one of my colleagues is a Bremen fan. His opinion is that he is their best player and that they simply need money. He isnt the smartest but can really beat a man and finish. He was surprised he didnt/hasnt yet gone to Leipzig, but they simply didnt...

The Summer 2020 Transfer Rumour Thread

Agreed. I think we are in agreement though that we need a striker or two who will take more chances and help in the set up, as we were carrying Sam, Kieran and Wesley. but we can’t expect to sign proven good strikers that aren’t either from a B league, too old or too inexperienced - I think...

The Summer 2020 Transfer Rumour Thread

This. plus, realistically which other proven prem goal scorers could we get? They aren’t exactly going cheap, so if we can get origi or Tammy then I think we have done well. Let’s not forget, we used to be huge, now we are (in the eyes of others) lucky to be in the prem, and so we cannot sign...

    The Official Dean Smith Thread

You surely don't think there is a cue of billionaires who want to risk their fortunes on football clubs do you?! they arent lining up around the block waiting for someone to sell.

    The Official Dean Smith Thread

Good luck finding someone with enough moeny to buy a football club and invest 100s of millions on playing staff with the risk of losing it all via relegation.

    The Official Dean Smith Thread

I dont see it as an all or nothing situation, becuse if the do invest big and it fails and we go down then they have lost a hell of a lot more than they paid for the club. But aside from that, wouldnt FFP stop us from spending big (spending over 120m?)? Because surely a Man City type approach...

    The Official Dean Smith Thread

To be honest i'd be quite happy being a solid mid table Burnley next year as it would be a third season in a row of progress. Im happy to wait to become Man City for a few years :throw:

So what next? Who stays? Who goes? Who comes in?

I agree with this, Engels and Mings were pretty solid before his injury, and when he came back it just didnt work for him and very visible errors cost him. I remember many of us saying that he was the quieter CB but often more reliable than Mings before he got hurt.

The Summer 2020 Transfer Rumour Thread

Dont shoot me but I've always liked the look of Gayle when ive seen him play, and he could be relatively cheap. No idea if he is better as part of a 2 man attack or if he could hold his own as the single striker. But at least he couldnt score against us anymore... Pulled his stats from...

Oh in completely agree, probably didnt make my point very well. I meant that if his own fans dont rate him then we should stay well clear :throw:

The Summer 2020 Transfer Rumour Thread

Billing played great against us which made me think he could be a great signing as well, but i was reading Bournemouth forum pages and they dont seem to rate him. No great praise and one even stated (before Sunday) that he will be lucky to get a Prem offer.

So what next? Who stays? Who goes? Who comes in?

I agree with that. A good striker or two would make a huge amount of difference and i'd focus big money on only 3-4 aswell. 1 striker 2 wingers 1 midfield player +bonus, a centre half - Zebe. Keep the defence as it is. Guilberts is fine and will get better after his first season in British...

    Aston Villa v Chelsea Match Thread - Sun 21 June - 4.15pm

The PL will really have to think hard about it because and should get legal clarification from the courts before they do anything. I can see it already, as soon as the virus topic has gone (potentially before the start of next season), clubs will forget about the past and will again focus on how...

    The Pepe Reina Thread

I know where you are coming from, but Nyland looks to be in form, and Reina out of it at the moment. We all know the difference between a striker in form and out of it, so I would go with Nyland. It could be worth a few points. If he plays terrible like he used to, then put Reina back in.
