    New Goalie

I keep trying to reassure myself that we were a playoff form team for two thirds of last season, but had a chronic bad patch. My eyes tell me that at Newport we were bottom six material. At Basford we looked Evostik standard and against Wigan only Ameobi and Grant stood out. I'm finding it hard...

    Curtis signs on

Delighted Curtis has signed up. Last season he went backwards, largely due to missing pre season and never being fit. A well coached Curtis Thompson with a specific job to do in centre mid is a good player to have in the squad. 100% trier and I think he has a fair bit of talent to go with it...

    Now we wait

I'm actually relieved that we aren't doing a ground zero squad rebuild again. Presuming Stead leaves , two strikers, a creative midfielder, wide left , and a centre half. I Would love Bolla, Grant and Ameobi to re sign. I think we'll get Ameobi, Bolla will be loaned to someone next season but...

    Thierry Audel

Good luck to him as you say Runner. He was error prone and positionally could be all over the place , and he is entirely replaceable. In his defence he always seemed fully committed and brave and am sure he'll find a club , probably in the Conference.

    Colin Slater

He is a legend really, I do think it's best that he stops doing the commentaries but wouldn't like to think that I won't hear him again.

    Crewe

Away point, really can't complain. If we can keep Ameobi and Grant next season and have a bit of a squad re jig the playoffs shouldn't be beyond us.

    Carlisle

It's a shame Trew didn't sell up ten games earlier, it's cost us the play offs. I'd fancy us to beat most teams home or away in this division at the moment. Nolan has done a fantastic job. Just hope he stays for a year or two.

    Carlisle

We've had some really poor results against them recently and we're hopefully due a bit of payback. If we play like we did last Saturday , we're well capable of a point or three.

    Colchester

We fully deserved the win, that was the most dominant I've seen us for a couple of seasons. Transfer policy will be fascinating this summer. Only Campbell looks a cert to be released in the summer. Players like Duffy and Hewitt look like different players, entirely capable of playing in a play...

    Wycombe

Predictive text, yes Dunnett. I also think that Nolan has something about him. It's hard to put your finger on it because it goes beyond win ratios. God knows, we've had enough managers through the door to get a feel for who's going to make it and Nolan feels like a man on the way up to me. I...

    Wycombe

Nolan has done a fantastic job. It must have been atrocious behind the scenes under the Trews when you see Sheridan doing well at Oldham and the likes of Duffy, Hewitt, Hollis and Collin transformed. Hardy and Nolan can hopefully emulate the Pavis / Warnock and Runner / Sirrel relationship and...

    Barnet

That wasn't the performance of a relegation team. We battled hard , dug in when we had to, looked lively when we broke, and had a togetherness that's normally associated with promotion chasing teams. Nolan has done a fantastic job,and very quickly turned us around, to the point where our best...

With Newport losing today, a win tomorrow really would have us if not over the line, blumming well close to it.

I think seven points will be enough. That would leave Newport needing to win five from ten to catch us up. They've only won seven all season. Having said that, I'd be happier with nine points.

The strike pairing gave us a disadvantage from the off. Hopefully Ameobi, Stead and Forte are all fit for Sunday. We really could do with winning this one , it would go a long way to keeping us safe.

    Hartlepool at home

Have to say, Kevin Nolan with Hardys backing has done a fantastic job in a short space of time. We've picked up bonus points against Plymouth and Exeter and crucially won the six longer-term we needed to. Only Yeovil felt like points dropped. His signings have come off, tactics have been...

    Orient away

We've had a massive eight days and done pretty much all we could have hoped for. We must also have made Orient feel dreadful with the late winner, the kind of result that can drain the belief. Same with Newport collapsing at Cambridge .

Burke and Snijders leave the club

Add Campbell and Dickinson and maybe Tootle to the list and it looks a tighter bunch of players. We can't afford a large squad of players, half a dozen or so not really at the standard needed.

    Exeter

2-2. Stead and Audel. Point gained.

    Cheltenham

Great to see Notts fans responding to the ticket offers and the players puttimg some big shifts in. Thought we deserved the win and although Cheltenham made life easy for us being so negative first half, we did play pretty well, as we did against Crawley. Thought Stead was massive for us today...
